The Ethiopian Leather Industry Association (ELIA) is implementing School’s shoe project and has established and set up a delivery unit in its office. Through this delivery unity ELIA will direct, coordinate and facilitate the delivery of school shoes and will carry out activities and close follow up of the implementation on the quality of the shoes produced by local shoe manufactures and supplied to end users.

ELIA will also facilitate technical support and assistance to the leather industries involved in this project. So ELIA is looking to recruit a school shoe technologist for this delivery unit office according.

Under the supervision of project coordinator, the School shoe technologist will be responsible for the following activities:-

• Assess the technical capacity and gaps of the local shoe manufacturers in the school shoe project

• Facilitate the technical assistant for the participating leather industries of the school shoe project

• Control and supervise the quality of the shoes produced according to given specification

• Close follow-up of the ordered production of the shoe and timely delivery to the project delivery unit

• Maintain effective communication with project stakeholders and keep update to the respective offices: The ELIA, the leather industries, Leather development & research center, Addis Ababa city administration and Ministry of Industry

• Prepare overall report of the school shoe project and submit to the project office and respective stakeholders

• Other tasks assigned by the supervisor and the project office

Job Requirement

Qualification

• B.SC or M.SC in shoe technology

Experience

• More than two years of experience for B.SC and zero year experience for M.SC

• Have adequate knowledge and experience in shoe design and pattern making, component cutting, component preparation and sewing, permanent operation and product finishing and costing.

• Good exposure in handling and facilitation of related project is a plus

Key skills and Requirements

• A background in marketing and value chain is a big plus

• Good facilitation and technical support skills for shoe manufacturing enterprises

• Good oral and written communication skills
