It has been investing on Education, WASH, Livelihood, Emergency responses, Leadership and Opportunity Development Pillars in Ethiopia since 2008. Job Overview
The Education MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning) Manager will play a critical role in ensuring the effectiveness, impact, and accountability of our education programs. You will lead the design, implementation, and management of robust monitoring and evaluation systems, ensuring data-driven decision-making and continuous learning. Through your expertise, you will strengthen the organization's ability to measure program outcomes, enhance program quality, and drive evidence-based improvements in education initiatives.
MEAL System Development and Management:
Lead the development, implementation, and management of a comprehensive MEAL system for education programs, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, donor requirements, and industry best practices.
Design and oversee the development of data collection tools, evaluation frameworks, and indicators to measure program effectiveness and impact.
Establish systems for data quality assurance, data management, and analysis, ensuring the integrity and reliability of data.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
Conduct regular monitoring visits to program sites to ensure adherence to program objectives, quality standards, and compliance with project timelines.
Lead the design and implementation of rigorous evaluations, impact assessments, and research studies to assess the effectiveness and impact of education programs.
Analyze quantitative and qualitative data, identify trends, and prepare comprehensive reports to inform decision-making, program adjustments, and reporting to donors and stakeholders.
Learning and Knowledge Management:
Promote a culture of learning within the organization, facilitating regular reflection, documentation, and sharing of lessons learned, best practices, and success stories.
Develop and deliver capacity-building initiatives to equip staff, partners, and stakeholders with monitoring, evaluation, and learning skills.
Stay updated on emerging trends, innovations, and methodologies in education MEAL and adapt them to improve program quality and outcomes.
Accountability and Feedback Mechanisms:
Lead the design and implementation of accountability and feedback mechanisms, ensuring the voices and perspectives of beneficiaries are captured and integrated into program decision-making processes.
Foster a participatory and inclusive approach to MEAL, engaging beneficiaries, community members, and relevant stakeholders in program assessments and evaluations.
Ensure that feedback received is addressed, and mechanisms for complaints and responses are in place, promoting transparency and accountability.
Donor Reporting and Compliance:
Prepare high-quality reports on program progress, outcomes, and impact for submission to donors and stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with donor reporting requirements and deadlines, providing accurate and timely data and information.
Master's degree in education related Monitoring and Evaluation, Project Management, Statistics, and other education and M&E related field of studies.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in designing and implementing monitoring and evaluation systems within the education sector, preferably in an international development context.
Strong knowledge of monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning methodologies, tools, and best practices.
Experience in conducting quantitative and qualitative research, data analysis, and impact assessments.
Proficient in using statistical analysis software (such as SPSS, STATA, or R) and data visualization tools.
Familiarity with education program implementation and knowledge of global education indicators and frameworks.
Excellent project management skills, with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a results-oriented mindset.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, and the local language
Experience working in cross-cultural and diverse teams.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data management software.
