JOB TITLE:    Amhara Regional Program Manager

REPORTS TO: National Program Director- Northern Ethiopia

DUTY STATION: Imagine1day Amhara Regional Office, Bahir Dar with frequent field trip to the project sites

 I.    JOB SUMMARY

Coordinates and oversees imagine1day’s programs in Amhara region, including the preparation of the annual operational plan and budget, resource mobilization, implementation of the programs and monitoring and evaluation of projects. Ensures the timely completion of projects within approved budgets and design specifications. Provides technical and daily management support to staff members; prepares an annual cash-flow statement each budget year; and manages the project budgets while fulfilling objectives of Details Implementation Plan (DIP). Compiles and produces timely monthly, quarterly and annual reports, and documents all progress appropriately. Represents Imagine1day in the region, creates networking opportunities and strengthen partnerships with stakeholders including Government, Colleges and Universities, NGO’s, Clusters, and CBO’s.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Advise the country office on regional government priorities

  • Support the Country Office in project proposal and concept note preparation

  • In-line with Imagine1day’s strategic focus and regional interest, design context relevant projects

  • Ensure timely submission of the 5W and 4W and situation report for emergency projects.

  • Coordinate and lead the planning and implementation of regional programs in coordination with the Country Office and regional program Staff.

  • Coordinates personnel selection, recruitment and staff induction and training Manage the regional office and provides technical and management support to regional and project office staff and conducts performance appraisal of the staff under his/her supervision.

  • Prepare, submit, and defend project proposals with the government project signatories and sign project agreements with the region

  • Prepare and submit annual operational plan and quarterly reports to the local government.

  • Ensures that program activities are carried out as planned and as scheduled within approved budgets.

  • Develops networking and collaboration opportunities, manages partnerships with stakeholders and represents the organization in the region;

  • Communicate and coordinate regularly with relevant government offices, communities, inter-organizational NGO’s and Bilateral Organizations in an effort to integrate program activities and maximize impacts.

  • ·Facilitates and prepares field visit plans including vehicle and accommodation arrangements.

  • Facilitates staff meetings and encourages staff participation.

  • Coordinates and leads PRA exercises with communities and conducts baseline surveys and need assessments.

  • Coordinates and conducts training for project staff, teachers, school clubs, PTA, and community leaders.

  • Ensure proper design and conducting the baseline, mid-term and final evaluation studies of all projects implemented in the region.

  • Ensure the regional office to submit annual procurement plan

  • Ensure submission of monthly cash request and financial report with scanned copies of supporting documents.

  • Oversees the management and safe keeping of Imagine 1 Day’s vehicles, Policies, property, and assets.

  • Ensure the database of imagine1day is well designed, electronically maintained, and made accessible to relevant staff.

  • Ensure Compliance with I1D's policies and procedures and with the regulations and laws of the government of Ethiopia in all financial matters.

  • Ensure maximum protection of child rights and protection of sexual exploitation and abuses of any form.

  • Perform other related tasks as required.

Job Requirements

  • 8 years’ experience of working in NGO settings out of which 3 years in managerial position.

  • Ability and willingness to travel and work in rural areas where the program is implemented, within approved security frameworks.

  • MA degree in Education, educational planning & management, social work, rural development, educational leadership, educational Psychology and related courses

  • Advanced knowledge of computer applications.

  • Excellent understanding of the culture and ways of living of target communities in operational area

  •  Excellent written and spoken English and Amharic

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with private sector, communities, government structure, existing NGOs etc.

  • Excellent partnership building and networking skills.

  • Good team player and open for new ideas and learning.

  • Good report writing skill; able to collect, document and share program records and information

Desirable

  • Extensive experience in project execution, good organizational, management and leadership skills.

  • Work experience in facilitation, coaching, partnership development, networking, supporting business development.

  • Work experience in diverse international NGOs is an asset.

  • Speaks one of the local languages in the region, Amharic and English language fluently.
