MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the general direction and guidance of the General Manager of the Hotel, the Marketing Department Manager is responsible for the planning, organizing, directing and controlling the marketing and sales activities of the Hotel, designing a marketing strategy that is aligned with the corporate strategy and business assessment results, overseeing market research, and overall internal and external environment assessment, SWOT analysis to assess customer needs, potential market, competitive operations and to identify gaps and propose alternative remedial courses of action, representing the Hotel in various events and exhibitions and conducting promotion, developing strong relationships with front office and other sales teams to ensure working in unity and always striving to achieve the same goals, initiating price fixing or revision proposals for management decision based on contemporary market and operation cost assessment, developing and running effective promotional mix that enables to create brand identity and image of the Hotel in the minds of customers, monitoring and evaluating its effectiveness and updating the mix as appropriate, and submitting timely and accurate performance reports to management.

DETAIL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Planes, organizes, directs and controls the marketing and sales activities of the Hotel;

  • Develops and fosters business through pro-active direct sales, marketing, telemarketing, direct mail, appointment calls and tours of the Hotel;

  • Designs a marketing strategy that is aligned with the corporate strategy and business assessment results;

  • Oversees market research, and overall internal and external environment assessment, SWOT analysis to assess customer needs, potential market, competitive operations and to identify gaps and propose alternative remedial courses of action;

  • Ensures neat appearance and grooming of the sales & marketing staff;

  • Maintains complete knowledge of all Hotel features and services, all room types, rates, special package and promotions, daily arrivals/departures/room availability, scheduled in-house group activities, VIPs scheduled, locations, and times as well as special requests/arrangements;

  • Conducts studies, devising and implementing effective sales techniques that enhance the revenue and market share of the Hotel;

  • Initiates and manages market research, business development and market expansion study projects;

  • Develops strategic action plans for the Hotel to drive measurable, incremental sales revenue;

  • Identifies areas of opportunity in performance and recommending tools and sales training to optimize performance of sales team;

  • Identifies new markets and business opportunities and increasing sales;

  • Attends to inquiries of clients for information;

  • Handles customer reservation requests and inquiries via online, letters, faxes, e-mails; encoding reservation data to the system and communicating confirmed reservations to concerned work units of the Hotel;

  • Updates occupancy and reservation database based on changes;

  • Represents the Hotel in various events and exhibitions and conducting promotion;

  • Maintains and promotes a team work environment with effective and clear communication amongst the sales personnel;

  • Works closely with the front office as well as the food & beverage preparation and service units to ensure understanding, effective coordination and synergy of service delivery;

  • Conducts studies, devises and implements effective sales techniques that enhance the revenue and market share of the Hotel;

  • Carries out exemplary sales practice through professional, friendly attitude towards clients and co-workers, timely response to clients’ needs and observance of sales standard;

  • Ensures that the Hotel meets or exceeds planned goals;

  • Manages the development and implementation of promotions, both internal and external;

  • Supports Hotel service and relationship strategy, driving customer loyalty by delivering service excellence throughout each customer experience;

  • Develops strong relationships with front office and other sales teams to ensure working in unity and always striving to achieve the same goals;

  • Assesses training needs based on data gathered and interaction with sales team from visits;

  • Builds and strengthens relationships with existing and new customers to enable future bookings;

  • Develops relationships within community to strengthen and expand customer base for sales opportunities;

  • Manages and develops relationships with key internal and external stakeholders;

  • Develops and maintains relationships and communication with key partners in operations to create solid marketing plans and serving as the primary point of contact;

  • Creates and executes innovative strategies that will drive the Hotel to exceed guest satisfaction and revenues;

  • Drives strategy and plans and executes marketing initiatives for new projects, menu changes, special menus, remodels and rebranding campaigns;

  • Monitors market conditions that impact menu offerings, business volume, and profitability;

  • Promotes and markets the business, while consistently assessing profitability and identifying areas for improvement;

  • Serves as the point of contact for clients and communicating with them by phone and email to respond to questions and requests;

  • Gathers materials and assembling information packages (e.g. brochures, promotional materials, welcome kit, souvenir, etc.);

  • Generates sales leads through internet prospecting, networking, and telemarketing;

  • Design, uploading, extracting and maintaining customer databases;

  • Conducts research and collecting data to prepare marketing reports and documents;

  • Utilizes efficient sales strategy for the maximization of hotel revenue;

  • Manages annual marketing budgets;

  • Conducts regular research analysis of existing and new marketing platforms to determine effectiveness;

  • Develops and executes customer acquisition and retention marketing programs, web-­based, database, and direct to consumer marketing;

  • Manages advertising and public relations agencies, utilizes them as resources for brand and revenue enhancement programs;

  • Selects and focusing on the market groups that the Hotel appeals to and soliciting the groups in that market;

  • Handles the advertising needs of the Hotel and the market research information gathering;

  • Approaches and solicits potential clients and expanse the client base of the Hotel;

  • Prepares business development and marketing procedures and guidelines and ensuring enforcement upon approval;

  • Proposes business development ideas that ensure the sustainability and growth of the Hotel based on contemporary internal and external assessments;

  • Initiates and conducts research on problems that are causing customer dissatisfaction, complaints and sales problems and coming up with solutions;

  • Advises the management of the Hotel on marketing and business development matters;

  • Initiates price fixing or revision proposals for management decision based on contemporary market and operation cost assessment;

  • Regularly monitors pertinent changes and the movements of actual and potential competitors, identifies gaps and competitive edges of the Hotel in the hospitality sector and provides the management with timely market intelligence;

  • Develops and runs effective promotional mix that enables to create brand identity and image of the Hotel in the minds of customers, monitors and evaluates its effectiveness and updates the mix as appropriate;

  • Devises and implements effective client retention and management techniques;

  • Conducts regular client satisfaction survey and undertaking appropriate responsive measures to the satisfaction of clients;

  • Submits timely and accurate performance reports to management;

  • Performs other related duties of the Department as required.

  • Second Degree in Hotel Management, Hotel & Tourism Management, Marketing Management, Business Management, Business Administration, Economics or other relevant field of study and 6 years related work experience, of which 2 years in a managerial position (s)

  • First degree in Hotel Management/ Hotel & Tourism Management/Marketing Management/ Business Management/Business Administration/ Economics or other relevant field of study and 8 years related work experience, of which 3 years in a managerial position (s)
