MSI Ethiopia Reproductive Choices is one of the largest international family planning/Reproductive Health Organizations in the world. We are a results-oriented social enterprise that develops efficient, effective, and sustainable family planning/reproductive health programs around the world.
MSI Ethiopia Reproductive Choices is currently undertaking a dramatic scale-up of health service delivery for low- and middle-income women and couples in Ethiopia. This includes expanding clinics and rural Outreach programs into new regions of Ethiopia and creating social business and franchising networks of private quality service providers.
Background on the Role
USAID Quality Healthcare Activity (QHA) aims at improving health outcomes through improved readiness of health facilities to deliver quality reproductive, maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health (RMNCAH) services, increased management and accountability for quality service delivery, and restoration of services in health facilities in conflict-affected areas.
MSI Ethiopia Reproductive Choices, partnered with the USAID-funded Quality of Healthcare Activities (QHA) consortia, led by JSI, and aspire to improve the private health system and quality of care, across the implementation region and beyond. QHA will cover urban and peri-urban primary health care units (PHCU) and referral health facilities in select regions and woredas. Accordingly, MSI Ethiopia Reproductive Choices is looking for a Private Sector Engagement Specialist.
Functionally working as part of QHA innovation team and, and reporting to the Private sector advisor, the Private Sector Engagement Specialist, is going to support the development, testing and implementation of the private sector engagement model. Particularly, he/she will lead, supervision the implementation of Public Private Mix guidelines, regulatory and Quality Improvement (QI) collaborations and learning sessions.
Private Sector Engagement Specialist:
Support the design and development of private health sector RMNCH engagement model development
Develop work plans, track implementation, and lead performance reviews.
· Support the private sector to deliver full RMNCH package per agreed quality and Minimum/Essential packages
· Provide technical expertise and analysis on private sector development issues including regulations and standardizations
· Support the development of PPM-related programs and support public-private facility linkages through Network of Care, QI collaborative, and strengthening
· Provide need-based capacity building in line with the minimum services packages and Oversee and ensure quality RMNCH services are delivered through private health care.
· Support innovative and new approaches towards expansion of vibrant engagement of private sector in RMNCH
· Design improved initiatives to make the private sector quality engagement, including the implementation of client-centered care initiatives
· Support private health care association, quality of health care engagement, peer learning, and sustainability framework
· Support research on private sector engagement and documentation of lessons learned.
· Timely track private sector RMNCH service improvement, and outcomes
· Technically lead private sector collaboration, learning, and adaptation areas (CLA)
· Strengthen the engagement of private sector in Zonal/Woreda level planning, governance, and RMNCH coordination
· Support adaptation and delivery of need based trainings to the private sector, including Training leadership, accountability, EHR, DHIS 2, other innovations

B. Skills, Attitudes, and Attributes
· Knowledge and experience in in the private sector,
· Experience in research and development, including Human centre design and participatory learning and Action
· Good appreciation of the issues of provision of reproductive health care services;
· Understanding major government health policies, regional policies
· Ability to proceed on own initiative using independent judgment
· Good facilitation, presentation, team building, and coordination skills;
· Strong personal commitment to the goals of MSI and
· Good interpersonal/communication (both oral & written) and time management
skills
