Job Description
The Driver and Logistics Assistant will give driving services for the “JSI/IPHCSD/eCHIS Project portfolio,” which includes BMGF and CIFF funded awards. The Driver and Logistics Assistant will work closely with the Administration Manager and HR & Logistics officer, technical leads, and regional teams to create an integrated approach for the Operations aspects of the program. The Driver and Logistics Assistant report to the Administration Manager.
Driving Responsibilities:
Drive at a speed recommended to the road and weather conditions, and to drive with consideration for the safety of the passengers, other road users, the load, and the technical state of the vehicle.
Ensure the project vehicles are in good condition: – well oiled, well fueled, cleaned and ready for use each day.
Operates project vehicles in a safe and responsible manner.
Maintains a clean and professional personal appearance
Checks daily with Supervisor routes, destinations and times for the day.
Advises supervisor on car servicing and need for spare parts on timely basis.
During travel, if faced with threats to life and property; advises travelers to go back to base or choose an alternate route.
Immediately notifying his superior as well as the local authorities in case of any accident in which he is involved.
Keeping his/her driving license valid and ready for inspection.
Making sure all necessary vehicle documents (e.g. insurance, registration documents, etc) are present in the vehicle and up to date
Ensure correct loading and unloading of the vehicle considering the maximum loading capacity, proper distribution and securing of the load.
keep the vehicle assigned to him clean and road-worthy
Ensure safe parking, whenever possible in JSI compound, of the vehicle at night, during breaks and when it is not in use.
Verify the presence of the vehicle log book, discharge of responsibility forms, the tools and spare parts as mentioned and signed for by him/her in the log book in the car all the time, a complete first aid kit and spare tyre(s) in good condition.
Always parks vehicles in a safe location, such as project offices, government offices and hotels.
Report any accident involving project vehicles to supervisor as soon as possible through telephone or any other possible means. A written accident report may be required from the driver and any other travelers in the vehicle.
Occasionally performs other duties (carry boxes, move furniture, photocopy, deliver checks, pick-up bills/invoices, etc.) required to ensure the smooth functioning of the project.
Adhere to and promote JSI’s culture and values and uphold JSI’s standards related to fraud, ethics accountability and management.
Perform any other duties as instructed by his/her supervisor.
Logistics Assistant Responsibilities:
Collect Performa invoices & materials for various trainings/meetings & office use
Assist in handling staff insurance and facilitate timely reimbursement of staff medical expense from the insurance company
Collect participants registrations and attendances at various meetings/Trainings, and facilitate per diem payments accordingly,
Facilitate office messages/letter delivery to partners, arrange office maintenance works, canteen, etc.
Secondary school education or equivalent (at least).
Good interpersonal communication skills
Good command of English & and local languages for the regions
At least 5 years’ experience as driver and logistics assistant with a government or international organization and experience in driving four-wheel drive vehicles.
Have a valid driving license Grade 3.
Proven experience of driving in terrain conditions and mountainous areas.
Matured, hardworking, enthusiastic, and helpful to people.
