Timret Lehiwot Ethiopia (TLHE) is a nonprofit, nongovernmental organization established in June 2004 which has been engaged in number of development programs. Re registered on October 30, 2019 as Ethiopian Residents Charity organization with a social enterprise wing according to the new civil society’s legislation with a good record of achievements working with communities & partners to bring positive change throughout Ethiopia. We strive to do work worth doing and focus on implementing impactful projects with marginalized communities within Ethiopia to bring about sustainable and durable change.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and compassionate individual to join our Wise Up Program team as a Sex Workers Program Outreach Worker with Intensive Outreach Role. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support and assistance to sex workers in the community, with a focus on outreach and engagement.

Place of work: Addis Ababa (Saris), Bahir Dar, and Hawassa

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct intensive outreach activities to identify and engage with sex workers in the community

  • Provide support and assistance to sex workers, including counseling, referrals, and advocacy

  • Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations and service providers to enhance support for sex workers

  • Participate in program planning and evaluation activities

  • Provide education and information to sex workers on topics such as sexual health, human rights, and legal issues.

  • maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all client interactions and program activities

  • Advocate for the rights of sex workers and working to reduce stigma and discrimination against them.

Job Requirements

  • Diploma and/or Bachelor's degree in Nursing and/or social work or a related field

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience for Diploma with marginalized populations, preferably sex workers,

  • Degree in Nursing with Zero work experience

  • Have any HIV related training or volunteer service with youth or Sex workers will be preferred

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Knowledge of community resources and services

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards

  • Being available to work occasionally during nights and weekends is required as part of the outreach activity.
