Future Solar PV and Minigrid Engineers

Are you interested in making a change in your community through community electrification with solar mini-grids? We are excited to offer on-site training and hands-on experience in Minigrid installation and rural community electrification.

1. About the internship:

The internship program aims to provide youths in the energy sector with on-the-job training in solar Minigrid installations by Minigrid experts from Germany and Green Scene's lead engineers. The trainee will work with Green Scene's installation team to carry out various technical tasks for the solar-Minigrid community electrification projects in different parts of Ethiopia.
The graduate trainee will be trained for a maximum of six months in theoretical and on-site practical training programs. Successful and outstanding trainees will be offered employment in different positions suitable to their qualifications based on their performance throughout the program.

2. The Company

Green Scene Energy PLC is a private limited company established in 2016 to supply affordable, high quality solar energy products and services to the off-grid rural areas of Ethiopia. Green Scene is servicing the bottom of the pyramid, rural and per-urban consumers in Ethiopia, providing solar off-grid and productive use solutions like solar pumping, mini-grids, SHS, C&I, Cold-Chain, etc. Green Scene is currently developing five Minigrids with total power of 650 kW in rural areas of SNNP, Oromia and
Somali region.

3. Duties and responsibilities:

• Support GSE team in installation of solar field equipment like Mechanical/structural mounting of racking, modules and electrical equipment

• Support GSE team in installation of powerhouse equipment such as MPPT chargers, inverters, batteries, battery cabinet and AC distribution box

• Support GSE teams in power plant design, simulation and optimization

• Arrange field installations with GSE engineers /technicians working on live projects.

• Inspects electrical installation and wiring

• Maintain periodic status reports, including daily activity report

• Performs other related duties as assigned

4. Required Skills/ Abilities

• Attention to detail

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Good team player; able to balance team and individual responsibilities

• Able to communicate effectively, orally and in writing

• Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under limited supervision

5. Qualification

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/ Electro-Mechanical/ Mechanical engineering from an accredited university with CGPA of 3.25.

• 0 year of experience

• Basic knowledge of electrical wiring, inverters, batteries, and full spectrum solar systems

• The successful candidate must be willing to work in project location of the Minigrid sites in rural areas of Oromia, SNNP and Somali.

• An intensive six months in theoretical and on-site practical training

• A certificate of training completion will be given to the trainees upon successful completion of the program.

• Successful and outstanding trainees will be offered employment in different positions suitable to their qualifications based on their performance throughout the program.
