Since 1970, Samaritan’s Purse has helped meet needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine. Samaritan’s Purse is privileged to be part of the humanitarian effort in Ethiopia and legally registered as foreign charity to work in Ethiopia since October 08, 2018.

JOB SUMMARY
The Community Mobilization Officer is expected to engage in community empowerment, mobilization, establishment of groups or committee, participate community and create networking collaboration and partnership with stakeholders for effective implementation of the program.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Liaise with community leaders and other stakeholders in information management, mobilization, stakeholder engagement in Food security related activities
· Conduct regular focus group discussions to identify existing barriers to uptake of services and develop communication strategies to overcome these barriers.
· Conduct stakeholder analysis as well as develop engagement strategy.
· Support community sensitization and mobilization of volunteers as spearhead community participation when required.
· Identify and provide tools and IEC material to assist in dissemination of information.
· Prepare weekly work plan and ensure timely implementation of the project activities.
· Support the community feedback and response mechanism.
· Increased uptake of positive practices related to Food security programming.
· Carry out other relevant or requested duties as may be required.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Diploma in Social Sciences
2 years of prior learning experience in community based, Government, NGO, INGO set ups.
LANGUAGE
· Amharic and English (spoken and written required)
· Tigrigna languages strongly desired
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram, or schedule form.
