Security Guard
ZOA’s programme in Ethiopia
ZOA works in several regions in Ethiopia: Gambella Regional State (field office in Gambella Town), Somali Regional State (field office in Dolo Ado and Melkadida refugee camp), Tigray Regional State (field office in Shire and Mekelle), Oromia Regional State (field office in Harar), Amhara and Addis Ababa. In Ethiopia, ZOA works with Internally Displaced People (IDPs), host populations, persons with disabilities, returnees, and a large population of refugees who fled a combination of violence and drought in Somalia, South Sudan and Eritrea.

Your challenge
To give security support for the wellbeing and safely to all staff, visitors, and ZOA country office premises.
The Security Guard is responsible to undertake the surveillance of the office premises and protection of the staff and visitors. He proactively secures the premises and controls entry/exit as per instructions & ZOA’s security policy, regularly patrols the area, and reports any security related events immediately to the immediate supervisor under operations department. He assists with various other tasks, gives information to visitors & guests, and maintains security regulations in a resolute yet friendly and polite manner.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Perform security duties
Screen individuals and prevent passage of prohibited items into restricted areas
Ensure that no dangerous items are brought into ZOA Ethiopia Office premises.
Ensure that all visitors are logged in the record visitors’ book
Inspect and adjust security systems, equipment, and ensure that all gates are opening and closing properly and to report additional maintenance needs to appropriate level.
Notify Logistics Coordinator of any visitors with special needs in case of emergency.
Record, review and maintain all procedures and protocols are in place to ensure effective entry, presence and exit of staff, approved customers, and partners.
Effective liaison with Logistics Coordinator, Operations Director and SMT to support all staff are in a safe and secured condition in the premises.
Ensure the security systems that are in place to protect staff, customers and ZOA country office properties are always working effectively.
Ensure all customers are treated in a fair and transparent manner
Provide the office with proactive security information.
Removing wrongdoers or trespassers from the area
Secure all exits, doors, and windows after end of operations
Observing for signs of crime or disorder and investigate disturbances
Provide assistance to people in need
Maintain premises tidy and clean
Apprehend and detain perpetrators according to legal protocol before arrival of authorities
Submit reports of daily surveillance activity and important occurrences
Instruct personnel in the performance of security services, including fire control and physical security of the premises, first aid procedures
Liaise where necessary with designated host government security
Do other relevant activities requested by his/her immediate supervisor
Security Guard against theft and maintain security of premises
Check that the office, and equipment are secured from any danger or hazards such as theft or fire
Check on generator areas and ensure the safety of it.
Warn persons of rule infractions or violations, and apprehend or evict violators from premises, and report to the Logistics Coordinator and operations Director.
Regular patrols of premises outside and inside office area:
Regular patrols of office outside front area, to keep an eye of office and staff vehicles parked outside in front of the office main gate
To stroll through the office during the evening shifts and remain alert all times
To check daily all doors, windows and ensure they are locked, and lights are off after staff shifts end.

2. Allowances
Transportation allowance: ETB 1,500 for our programme field office staff, & ETB 2,000 for our country office staff per month.
Airtime Allowance: We provide data and airtime to enable you to conduct your work outside of the office.
we provide a closed user group so you can speak to your colleagues at no cost.
Food Allowance: we provide lunch daily at our offices, ZOA pays 600 ETB per month and staff contribute 400 ETB per month.
Severance payment: one month’s salary for an extra service year.
Hardship Allowance: If you are working in identified places as a remote and hazardous by the government, you will be entitled 20-40% additional allowances of their basic salary. Therefore, we provide 40% hardship allowance to ZOA employees working in Gambella, Dollo Ado and Shire field offices.
Transfer Allowance: We provide transfer allowance of 10,000 ETB If, in case of you permanently shift or transfer to a new programme area.
3. Paid Leave
We recognize you have priorities outside of work.
Our flexible paid time off package gives you the flexibility you need.
Annual Leave: 20 days of annual leave in addition to public holidays, and you are also granted one extra day for each extra full year.
Enhanced Maternity Leave provision, 4 months
Paternity Leave 5 working days.
Rest and Recuperation (R&R): We provide you 5 working days for every consecutive 12 weeks of work R&R leave to unaccompanied staff who work away from their permanent place of residence to spend time with their family. Therefore, ZOA provides R&R leave for its employees who work in the program offices in Somali, Gambela, and Tigray regions.
4. Insurance
Provident Fund + Pension: : 32% (22% from ZOA and 10% from You.
Life insurance
Medical Insurance: We also covers your dependents, and your medical expenditures are covered by ZOA up to 100% of each invoice, up to a defined maximum refunded amount of Br 200,000 ETB per annum.

Educational Qualification and Experience
12th /10th Grade completion
Candidates must preferably be between 25 and 35 years old. The incumbent should stand to face any potentially dangerous situations.
At least 5 years of security experience.
Familiarity with report writing.
Trained in First Aid
Military Training certificate
Worked within a national or international police, military, security, or fire brigade organization;
Special Requirements
Have good time keeping

English language and complimentary school is an asset
