Children Believe Fund (CBF) is a child-centered, community-based international development organization devoted to addressing the needs of children, their families and communities by implementing programs that focus on, health & nutrition, WASH, education, early childhood development, child protection sustainable livelihood development, disaster risk reduction and gender equality in different parts of Ethiopia.
Currently Children Believe Fund wants to hire a driver for nutrition focused new project titled Championing Health and Gender Equality (CHANGE) to be implemented in North Wollo Zone of Amhara National Regional State, Ethiopia.
Job Responsibilities:
The driver is responsible for providing transportation service for the project/ organization’s staff and authorized guests by safely driving vehicle. The position is also responsible for planning route and requirements by studying schedule or requests of logistic support by the office. He/she is also assist procurement and transporting goods and delivering and receiving messages to and from the organization.
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:
Plans for the trip assessing the distance of the destination, fuel, oil, lubricant, water, financial and material requirement for trips and other anticipated conditions.
Regularly inspects vehicle for defects and safe operating condition before, during and after trips and report on the condition of vehicle at the end of each trip.
Informs staff about the precautious that they should take before and during the trip and give special attention to travelers’ safety and security
Drives any vehicle assigned in a safe and professional manner.
Keeps the assigned vehicles clean (both inside and outside).
Completes the vehicle log book accurately and submit the log book for inspection on a regular basis to the supervisor.
Responsible for reasonable fuel consumption and regularly check the fuel, oil and water of assigned vehicle.
Operates the vehicle in accordance with national and local driving laws at all times.
Assists the expatriate and national staff assigned to the vehicle, as requested.
Inform his/her supervisor of all vehicle movements when leaving the site and ensure that all vehicle movements are recorded on the formats prepared for vehicle movements.
Responsible for all tools, medical kits and any other equipment supplied with the vehicle and keep these tools from damage or misuse.
Reports any security incidents observed or encountered immediately to immediate supervisor and authorized office.
Responsible for the safe delivery of any consignments assigned to the vehicle.
Assists travelers with loading, unloading, packing and transferring any material as requested.
Assists in and ensure that loading and unloading of the vehicle is carried out in a safe manner, and that the vehicle is not overloaded.
Ensures that all loads on or in the vehicle are properly secured.
Conducts standard checks of the vehicle every day before operating and be responsible for ensuring any regular maintenance work is carried out.
Reminds the supervisor at least one week in advance of scheduled maintenance work being due.
Assists procurement and transporting goods and delivering and receiving messages to and from organization
Assists facilitating procurement of project supplies and office materials.
Perform other related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.

Terms of Employment: One year with possibility of renewal

Job Requirements
Minimum Education and Experience Required:
10 Grade Complete and minimum of 3rd Grade driving license
Five (5) or more years of experience as a driver, preferably working experience in NGOs.
Skills, Competencies, Attributes, Traits, and Behaviours:
Excellent interpersonal communications, relationship-building, and negotiation skills, especially when developing / maintaining contacts and working with staff within and outside the organization.
Good communication skills.
Ability and experience in travelling to different parts of the country.
Ability to work under pressure.
Productive personality traits, patience, sociable, responsible and courage.
