Job Summary:

The Group Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial reporting, budget control, forecasting, tax compliance, treasury, and internal controls of the group. The Group Financial Controller will also provide strategic financial advice and guidance to the senior management and Finance Director.

The role: The role will be to lead a dynamic, modern, and young team with over 50 finance staff across Ethiopia. 

Key responsibilities:

•  Prepare and consolidate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports in accordance with IFRS and local GAAP

•  Ensure timely and accurate submission of financial information to internal and external stakeholders, including auditors, regulators, investors, and lenders

•  Manage the group's cash flow and liquidity position, including forecasting, hedging, banking relationships, and debt financing

•  Coordinate and supervise the budgeting and forecasting process for the group, ensuring alignment with the strategic plan and business objectives

•  Monitor and analyze the group's financial performance and key performance indicators, identifying risks and opportunities, and providing recommendations for improvement. Monitor expenditures against budget

•  Develop and maintain effective internal control policies and procedures to ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and contractual requirements

•  Lead and manage the finance team across different locations, providing coaching, training, and development opportunities

•  Support the senior management and the Finance Director with financial analysis, modeling, valuation, due diligence, and other ad hoc projects

Job Requirements

Qualifications and skills:

•  Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field

•  Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, CA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent

•  Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in financial management, preferably in a multinational or listed company

•  Strong knowledge of IFRS and local GAAP, as well as Ethiopian tax and treasury regulations

•  Experience with ERP systems (knowledge of Microsoft Business Central 365 will be an added advantage) and BI tools (e.g. Power BI)

•  Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and PowerPoint

•  Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills

•  Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

•  High attention to detail, accuracy, and quality

•  Analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

•  Leadership, management, and coaching skills
