LEFAT Project Manager Job Description
LEFAT is a local Ethiopian non-profit foundation, registered with the F.D.R.E Authority for Civil Society Organizations (Certificate Number 6592). We work on capacity building and modernization of smallholder farmers by technical assistance and knowledge transfer activities. Our primary goal is to highlight the Ethiopian farmer on the global stage and help raise their standards to match their potential. We are a small, specialized team that operates synergistically on most activities by offering all necessary support to each other.
We are looking for a Project Manager to be responsible for organizing programs and activities. You will be tasked with developing programs to support the foundations strategic direction, as well as creating and managing long term goals. You will also be in charge of developing budgets and operating plans for programs and writing program funding proposals.
In order to be successful in this role, you will need to have prior experience in both project management, team management, and financial planning. Preferably in the agricultural development sector.
Organizing activities in accordance with the mission and goals of the organization.
Creating and managing long-term goals.
Developing a budget and operating plan for the organizations’ programs.
Developing an evaluation method to assess program strengths and identify areas for improvement.
Writing program funding proposals to guarantee uninterrupted delivery of services.
Managing a team with a diverse array of talents and responsibilities.
Ensuring goals are met in areas including customer satisfaction, safety, quality, and team member performance.
Implementing and managing changes and interventions to ensure project goals are achieved.
Meeting with stakeholders to make communication easy and transparent regarding project issues and decisions on services.
Producing accurate and timely reporting of program status throughout its life cycle.
Analyzing program risks.
Working on strategy with the project teams.
Project Manager Requirements
Bachelor's degree or master's degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Accounting, Finance, or closely related fields.
5+ years supervisory role experience in non-profit organizations
Proven experience in agricultural project management.
Proven stakeholder management skills.
Proven experience managing a team.
Project financial management skills
Experience using computers programs for a variety of tasks.
Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Understanding of project management principles.
Ability to travel to project sites of which may be in rough terrain (25%).
Previous experience in agricultural value chain improvements is preferred.
Must be fluent in English and local working language(s).
