Position: UI/UX Designer (Two Years Part-time Contract)

EthSwitch S.C is a technology and payments company established to play a critical role in modernization of Ethiopia’s currently emerging payment system by instituting and operating the country’s retail payments scheme, ensuring interoperability of payments among payment services providers and providing shared infrastructure. The mission of the Company is “Making Payments Simple and Affordable”, and the Vision of the Company "To be best in class Payments Network in Africa". We are looking for professionals to fill the following vacant positions for our offices of the Program Management (PMO).

The UX/UI Designer, in EthSwitch, should work in an environment where creativity and adaptation of change are required and will have freedom to design and modernise platforms of EthSwitch.

A UI/UX Designer is responsible for creating intuitive, visually appealing, and user-friendly interfaces for digital products, such as websites, mobile apps, and software applications. This role involves a deep  understanding of user-centered design principles, the ability to conduct user research, create  wireframes, prototypes, and visual designs, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a  seamless user experience. 

Key Responsibilities

1.User Research and Analysis: 

• Perform user research to understand the target audience, their needs, and expectations

• Analyze user feedback and data to identify areas for improvement and optimizatin

• Create user personas to better inform design decisions 

2. Information Architecture and Wireframing: 

• Develop information architecture, including sitemaps and user flow diagrams 

• Create low-fidelity wireframes to communicate the basic structure and layout of the interface 

3. Prototyping and Interaction Design: 

• Develop interactive prototypes to showcase the intended user experience

• Design and specify user interactions, including animations, transitions, and micro-interactions 

4. Visual Design: 

• Create high-fidelity mockups that adhere to established design systems or brand guidelines

• Develop and maintain style guides, pattern libraries, and other design documentation 

5. Usability Testing and Iteration: 

• Conduct usability testing with real users to validate and refine designs 

• Iterate on designs based on user feedback, data analysis, and stakeholder input 

6. Collaboration and Communication: 

• Collaborate with product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to ensure a cohesive and successful product 

• Present design concepts and rationale to stakeholders and team members 

• ∙Assist developers in implementing designs, ensuring design integrity throughout the development process 

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in User Experience Design, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, or a related  field, or equivalent experienc

• 2+ years of experience in UI/UX design, preferably for digital products

• Strong portfolio demonstrating proficiency in user research, wireframing, prototyping, interaction design, and visual design

• Proficiency with design tools, such as Sketch, Adobe XD, Figma, or similar

• Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is a plus

• .Excellent communication and collaboration skills

• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail

• Familiarity with accessibility and inclusive design principles
