Job Description

The Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) was founded in 1970 through the initiative of the Norwegian and Swedish Save the Children organizations seconded by the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia. The Institute got its name from the Norwegian physician, Gerhard Henrik Armauer Hansen, who first described the leprosy bacillus (Mycobacterium leprae). AHRI is a biomedical, Research studies, Vaccine, and Traditional Medicine research institute that works in developing tools for research studies, Vaccine, prevention, control, and treatment of neglected tropical diseases and other diseases of public health importance through applied, basic biomedical research, research studies, and training. The SEARN-TB is a network of 22 Southern and East African countries TB programs that aim to act as a platform for enhanced collaboration and communication, ensure that implementation barriers to the delivery of country and sub-regional-level plans to address TB are identified, resolved, and/or brought to the attention of the relevant authorities and/or partners as early as possible.

Salary: as Per the AHRI scale  

Major role and responsibility

  • To facilitate communication between NTPs, and key partners and stakeholders in the region

  • To promote and facilitate implementation and operational research for enhanced TB control

  • To document and share across the region of strategies and best practices for TB control

  • To support NTPs with advocacy and resource mobilization efforts that can strengthen national responses to TB

  • Manage multiple points of communication including the secretariat websites, social media groups, etc.

  • Organizing and maintaining contacts and personal information of program managers

  • Developing a budget and operating plan for the secretariat.

  • Writing program funding proposals to guarantee uninterrupted delivery of services.

  • Work in harmony with a team with a diverse array of backgrounds, talents, and responsibilities.

  • Implementing and managing changes and interventions to ensure program goals are achieved.

  • Implement and manage projects under the program

  • Meeting with stakeholders to make communication easy and transparent regarding secretariat issues and decisions.

  • Producing accurate and timely Financial and technical reporting of the secretariat status.

  • Conduct any other responsibilities assigned by the institute.

Job Requirements

·         Master's degree in project management with a health background

·         Minimum of five-year experience in various capacities, including proven experience in program or multiple projects management preferably in a research environment.

·         Experience in Research studies research coordination and management

·         Trained in GCP and Research Ethics

·         Good command of English
