Purpose of the job

KBSC Raw Materials Development Manager is responsible for the successful local raw material purchase in the company. He/she is accountable for providing planning, organizing, directing, coordinating and implementing the overall local raw material purchase of the Company. The main crop is Malt Barley which is the main raw material used in KBSC’s brewing process

Key Responsibilities

  • Raw Materials Development Manager is in charge for all aspects of raw material procurement, ensuring that resources are efficiently and effectively deployed with a base of cost competitive, high quality, and reliable suppliers. Material Development Manager shall be responsible mainly for coordination of local sourcing of malt barely and other possible raw materials to be developed locally.

  • Ensure the process with the procurement policy, as well as the consistent adaptation of good commercial and professional practices. 

  • The scope consists of managing the local sourcing direction on strategic level while securing Operational execution of the key projects. All activities have to be part of a strong long term strategy and vision for a sustainable supply chain.

  • . Ensures appropriate reporting on raw materials planning activities

  • Assuring solid agricultural supply contracts with smallholder farmers and seed multipliers, 

  • Being part of high-quality malt barley supply and organizing the required support to the farmers through the project. 

  • Ensures the proper procurement of r/materials, chemicals, for product and non-product category requirements of the company.

  •  Monitoring the cost of the total chain.

  • Follows up the implementation of the raw material procurement processes, monitoring systems and mechanisms to eliminate deficiencies in procurement.

Reporting to position:  Supply Chain Director

Job Requirements

Education

  • Minimum Master’s Degree in business development, agriculture, international development, or related field. Experience in agriculture, and/or value chain approaches in the food industry is highly desirable.

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience managing international agricultural/ economic growth programs in Ethiopia or abroad.

  •  Other Skills required

  • Strong manager, including well developed skills in managing complex relations and interactions 

  • Complex project/program management

  • Proven networking skills on higher business and government levels

  • Good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills in English ,Amharic and preferably Afaan Oromo.

  • Strategic thinking 

  •  Inter functional integration 

  •  Strong technical skills in data analysis and synthesizing 

  • Experience with use and functionality of Information Technology tools

  • Demonstrated personal accountability 

  • Cultural sensitivity, patience, and flexibility

  • Proven leadership and interpersonal skills and ability to build and motivate diverse and talented teams

  • Flexibility to work both in a team and independently
