Project Background
SNV is implementing Sustainable Energy for Smallholder Farmers (SEFFA), a multi-country project that supports scalable, innovative business cases using renewable energy services and technologies to improve the production and livelihoods of smallholder farmers in the dairy and horticultural value chains in Ethiopia, Kenya and Uganda. SEFFA is an EnDev project co-financed by IKEA Foundation with a project duration of three years (Jan 2021 – Dec 2023) that follows a market-based approach and demonstrates the feasibility of productive use of renewable energy.
The SEFFA project takes a market-based approach and aims at increasing the availability of PUE technologies and services as well as demonstrating the economic rationale of such investments for smallholder farmers.
Purpose of the job
The purpose of this role is to seek the services of a university graduate with at least one year work experience, to support the SEFFA Ethiopia team in the implementation and documentation of key information for knowledge product development. This post is particularly for young graduates seeking to build their experience in the development space. It is therefore both a learning and a value adding relationship. The intern is expected to take advantage of the space provided to enrich their experience and develop themselves while providing quality service to the SEFFA project at SNV Ethiopia.
Documentation and analyses
Assist the team in the documentation of best practices of the project. Complete documentation for case story or lesson learned mapped or drafted.
Assist the team, writing and documentation of resource materials, collecting evidence related to the business case being piloted including cost and benefit analysis. Analyses and document the grantee and/or business case performance.
Administrative support
Participate in all regular check-in calls/meetings/visits with clients taking note of the key lessons and actions for documentation.
Ensure proper filing of knowledge products for the project. Keep the project content on SharePoint up to date; maintain an efficient archiving system and take time to have the files updated regularly and in the rightful places.
Assume any other responsibilities relevant to the position as assigned by the Project manager.
Required Skills and Experience
A bachelor’s degree in economics, Business Administration and Management, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field. Enrolling in a master’s programme is much preferred.
Minimum of at least one year of work experience in similar work.
Proficient computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office apps.
Knowledge of basic economics calculation and analysis.
Knowledge and experience in case documentation, research and evidence collection
Sound cross-cultural, interpersonal, and networking skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Able to make new and useful ideas work.
Able to always exercise discretion when dealing with confidential issues.

Expected start date: As soon as possible
