Job Description
Purpose of the Position
The Fundraising and Communications Coordinator will serve as a critical member of the leadership team charged with overseeing our in-country fundraising operations and communications. The Fundraising & Communications Coordinator will create and oversee the fundraising and communication strategy to support company’ strategic plan with a focus on Fundraising, Communications and Marketing to increase growth and efficiency.
The Fundraising & Communication Coordinator is a skilled relationship-builder, communicator and creative architect of an integrated development plan for the organization that can generate generous giving to support the company today and sustain it for the future. The Fundraising & Communications Coordinator is a capable systems-builder, writer and a strong collaborator while gaining an understanding of company’s programs in Ethiopia in order to share an exciting opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of women in Ethiopia to new and existing donors.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the execution of the Ethiopian Fundraising Strategy with an annual revenue goal set; set benchmarks for all facets of fundraising process (identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship)
Coordinate content for digital communications such as e-newsletters and social media calendars pertinent to fundraising activities.
Identify and cultivate grants, and track pre-and post-award funder deadlines.
Support the submission of funding requests (e.g. compiling necessary documents to create an application package).
Conduct preliminary research and analysis on prospective individual, corporate, and foundation donors.
Track donor opportunities, research prospects, and support proposal development, funding requests, and report writing.
Design, implement and manage all fundraising activities including multi-year giving, grant writing, impact reports, major donor proposals, presentations, annual campaigns, planned giving and event planning solicitations.
Build and maintain a portfolio of qualified donors, grants and prospects sufficient to meet personal and organizational revenue goals.
Support the Country Director in the development and activation of a portfolio of theorganization’s donors and stakeholders in Ethiopia.
Cultivate content for the Communication and Marketing Strategy to engage donors,prospects and key stakeholders.
Coordinate marketing and communication materials for annual giving initiatives, direct mail solicitation.
Support Grants Specialist and Country Director in coordinating the Grant Portfolio and develop a system for grant requests and implementation.
Oversee fundraising events in Ethiopia and Goodwill Ambassadors’ engagements.
Required: Frequent travel required
Minimum Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
At least five (5) years of directly related experience in a non-profit fundraising and communications role.
Ability to handle confidential donor/constituent information with sensitivity and integrity
Excellent communication and entrepreneurial skills.
Professional fluency in spoken and written English with ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
Social media savvy; experienced with content creation using a variety of platforms such as LinkedIN, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
Familiarity with technology tools for web conferencing like Zoom.
Special Aptitude or Personality Requirements:
A passion for helping women; a strong commitment to equity and inclusion.
Demonstrated experience with all phases of the development cycle, from prospect
identification to stewardship.
Experience managing a personal portfolio of donors and prospects.
Experience and confidence with in-person solicitation.
Excellent organizational skills to coordinate across multiple projects and constituencies (both internal and external), and balance multiple priorities.
Exceptional interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with people of all ages and at all levels of an organization.
Must be able to work independently and as a collaborative team member.
A self-starter with excellent work ethic and passion to make a difference.
Experience with design of development marketing materials.
