About the Organization

Development for Peace Organization (DPO) is an Ethiopian civil society organization established in 2020 with a mission of striving to meet the humanitarian and developmental needs of societies regardless of race, color, religion or cultural background. The organization is legally registered to work in Ethiopia (Reg. 5164), South Sudan (Reg. 4178), Kenya (OP.218/051/22-400/12732 and Somalia (Reg. NGOD/Moifar0422/022); it is also processing its registration in Yemen.

Job Summary 

The agriculture officer is responsible to undertake implementation of agriculture related activities of the project in emergency seed, tools distribution, provision of animal feed and capacity building activities. The officer work closely with Regional coordinator, sector agriculture offices and communities to support livelihoods recovery attempts in drought affected communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out agriculture activities including with specific focus on seed, Animal feed, tools and cash assistance.

  • Engage in beneficiary selection with specific selection criteria for crop and Animal feed and cash assistance.

  • Provide on/off farm trainings for farmers (beneficiaries) on specific topics

  • Conduct day to day follow up on beneficiary, provide appropriate technical support and advice.

  • Organize experience sharing sessions among beneficiaries and cascade good practices.

  • Community mobilization for agriculture interventions.

  • Produce and submit period progress reports on the performance of the agriculture project activities

  • Perform any other duty assigned

Reports to: Project Coordinator

Job Requirements

Education

  • Bsc Degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, Plant Science

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years direct work experience in implementation of Agriculture projects.

  • Direct NGO experience is an asset

Skills

  • Technical Training qualifications required: 

  • professional technical skill associated with livelihood assessment, crop and Animal feed is desired
