Kadisco Paint and Adhesive Industry SC previously known as Kadisco Chemical Industry Plc is a privately owned company located in Addis Ababa in the Akaki Kality Industrial Zone area. Kadisco is a company that traces its origins back from a small automotive parts dealership that was operating in one of the busy streets of Addis Ababa back in late 60’s. During the period until 1975 it had the opportunity to act as the sole distributor for Sadoline Paints. In 1979 it was registered as the sole company to manufacture adhesives and glue. By stages, the company developed into a diversified paint manufacturer.

In February 2015, Asian Paints Ltd and Kadisco Paint and Adhesive Industry SC formed a joint venture for business in Ethiopia and came to be known as Kadisco Asian paints. Asian Paints is India’s leading paint company and Asia’s second largest, with a group turnover of USD 2.7 billion. The group has an enviable reputation in the corporate world for professionalism, fast track growth, and building shareholder equity. Asian Paints operates in 19 countries and has 26 paint manufacturing facilities in the world servicing consumers in over 65 countries. 

Today the company produces a full range of paints for the construction, industrial and automotive sectors. It also produces wood and concrete lacquers as well as adhesives for the wood and leather industry.

Position Summary 

Executive Standardization is responsible for conducting several Design Experiments in consultation with the Technology function, Pilot Engineering Lab batches & meetings in the introduction of new products, formulations & standardizing them on the shop floor. He also leads in control of non-conforming products within the plant. Also timely involves and guides in BOM related to production. Additionally supports improving the Quality Rate Index (QRI), Price of Non-Conformance (PONC) & controls the AWD & processes to proactively address Non-conformances.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Assists  Operations Managers for meeting the plant promises on quality

• Standardization of new products & formulations on shop floor & improving QRI

• Control of AWD & in process non conformances & calculation of PONC 

• Monitoring of Process and Product Quality Plans, Rejection, and Rework Analysis to achieve close to zero defects

• Supports implementation of Quality management system (QMS) with QA department across plants 

• Co-coordinating with Central Quality Support group for carrying out Internal and External Quality audits and closure of Non-Conformities with all stakeholders. 

• Maintaining coordination with technical function, plant production, and plant engineering for smooth implementation of new products introduction

• Conducting design review (Gate meeting) with Technology and Operations for new product/RM/major AIG changes

• Designing and implementing new processes and products and troubleshooting issues related to existing/new products

• Take part in cross-functional plant teams in quality improvement

• Responsible for goal setting, review, and management of performance of direct reports and indirect reports

Functional Relationships: Plant team, Unit Supply Chain - Raw Materials & Packing Materials, Technology Function, Central Supply Chain (CSC) & Corporate Quality & Safety (CQS), Quality Assurance & Control department, Customer Complaints –Charter Calls

Job Requirements

Qualification and Experience Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Chemistry from a recognized University.

• Experience in manufacturing process industry like Paint, Chemical, Pharma, FMCG, Automobiles with 3 – 5  years of relevant experience

Additional Requirements 

• Six Sigma black belt certification/ Certified quality engineer / QMS auditor

• Manufacturing process domain from Paint or Chemical industry

• Proficient in manufacturing process knowledge

• Result orientation

• Good Data analysis & Problem-solving skills

• Integrity, demonstrates scientific rigor 

• Creative zeal, Challenges status quo

• Proficient in MS word, MS excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Outlook

• Should have good command in English (Oral & Written)

• Must be a good team player

• The incumbent should be dynamic, well organized, self-driven & have a good personality

• Able to work under pressure and complete the task within a preset time-frame

• Good inter-personal & communication skills
