JOB SUMMARY

The GBV Response Officer is a key team member of International Medical Corps and will oversee the overall day to day GBV response interventions, including case management/psychosocial support activities. The GBV Response Officer will be responsible for providing day to day case management and psychosocial support to vulnerable women, including survivors of GBV for the respective IDP site. The GBV Response Officer will also oversee the overall response implementation including the psychosocial and information sessions at the WGFS. The Response officer will supervise and support assistant response officers/community outreach mobilizers to facilitate services for vulnerable women and girls including survivors of GBV. 

  • Coordinate and monitor the overall implementation of GBV program activities in the IDP sites, establish indicators, including collecting and analysing data and information for reporting.

  • Supervise and support the day-to-day activities including on case management/psychosocial support, follow-up and advocacy to meet survivors’ needs.

  • Identify vulnerable women and girls including survivors of GBV who come or refer to the respective service provider for support.

  • Assess the needs of vulnerable women and girls including survivors of GBV and assist them to develop an action point for meeting their needs.

  • Link vulnerable women and girls including survivors of GBV to actors to access supportive services based on their needs, choices, and consent.

  • Carry out requested ethical and safe follow up visits to monitor the progress of vulnerable women and girls including survivors of GBV and provide any support needed.

  • Liaise and advocate with actors in the IDP to ensure the vulnerable women and girls including survivors of GBV have access to services they need.

  • Work with community structures including women’s association in the IDP to ensure vulnerable women and girls including survivors of GBV who are seeking services are referred to the women’s centre for assistance.

  • Work with community structures and partners to develop and maintain appropriate referral pathway to improve assistance for vulnerable women and girls.

  •  Participate in GBV related outreach and community mobilization interventions including information sessions and trainings.

  • Collaborate with the women, children and youth affair office including in the provision of psychosocial, recreational, information sessions and skills building activities for vulnerable women and girls

  • Maintain records of activities and produce regular reports including weekly updates or Situational Reports, success stories and lessons learnt.

  • Ensure safe and ethical GBV data collection and sharing based on agreed procedures and protocols;

  • Provide case management services, including interviews with clients, assessments, and care plans 

Human Resource Management & Capacity Building

  • Assist in the recruitment and training of GBV staff

  • With support from IMC HR, conduct staff performance evaluations of GBV staff in a timely manner.

  • Adhere with IMC PSEA and safeguarding policies

  • Work with HR to ensure accuracy of all GBV program job descriptions for staff and their responsibilities.

  • In collaboration with GBV program manager, design and monitor capacity building strategies for GBV staff.

  • Ensure staff support and debriefing processes are in place, and that staff safety planning is conducted and regularly updated.

  • Develop, implement and promote effective team communication techniques and systems, including regular senior staff meetings.

  • Contribute to a positive IMC team environment 

Coordination & Collaboration

  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with all relevant stakeholders including CBOs.

  • Collaborate with other IMC sectors and operations personnel to ensure that the program is properly supported and that all project-related operational activities are conducted according to IMC HR, Logistics, Finance and other policies and procedures;

  • In collaboration with the GBV program manager, promote and represent the interests of the GBV program with regards to all relevant stakeholders.

  • And any other activity as requested by the supervisor

Job Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 

ü  BSc degree in Social Work, Public health, nursing, gender, preferred MS and he/ she must have at least three years’ proven exposure in refugee or humanitarian crises is encouraged and minimum of   two years’ work experience in NGO is required.

ü  A trained community mobilizer in a reputable organization

ü  Background in GBV, Human Rights and/or Protection.

ü  Experience in participatory techniques and community mobilization

ü  Experience in participatory techniques and community mobilization.

ü  Ability to lead, train, supervises, facilitate, and motivate other GBV field workers in their respective tasks in a professional, respectful, and supportive manner.

ü  Positive and professional attitude, able to organize, maintain composure and prioritize work under pressure, work over-time when needed and able to coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail.

ü  Ability to work as a member of a team essential.

ü  Ability to speak the local languages is mandatory.

ü  Ability to communicate well in English as well as write clear and concise reports in English is plus.

                     Additional Characteristics

ü  Clear understanding of gender inequality, and issues surrounding violence against women and girls.

ü  Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect for clients always is essential. 

ü  Ability to lead, train, supervise, facilitate, and motivate other GBV staff in their respective tasks in a professional, respectful, and supportive manner.  

ü  Strong planning, organization, and problem-solving skills with ability to work both independently and within a team in a demanding work environment.

ü   Excellent personnel management skills, including diplomacy, tact and negotiating skills.

ü   Integrity, strong work ethic, and ability to consistently meet deadlines under pressure.

ü   Experience collaborating in protection, gender and human rights related activities.
