Job Description

Purpose of the role:

Under the direct supervision of head of ESG, the environmental performance coordinator has the responsibility of monitor and report the company activities in accordance with required regulatory standards, analysis, interpretation and reporting of data, risk assessments and quality assurance in relation to environmental monitoring specific to mining industry.

 Scope of the role

  •  Ensuring compliance against all applicable legal/regulatory requirements, procedure for management of hazardous materials and waste management in relation to mining activities.

  • Ensure that company activities are compatible with ISO 14001(2015/18) standards.

  • Implement environmental monitoring plan of the company.

  • Collects a variety of field data including but not limited to water quality, energy use, chemicals, waste, air in relation to GHG and conform with regulatory standards.

  • Support the implementation, maintenance and compliance of Environment management system based on corporate, legal and stakeholder requirements.

  • Nursery site development as part of Environmental rehabilitation for climate finance.

  • Audit and review of the on-site implementation of corporate standards and risk management programs in all areas.

  • Conduct ES scanning in the newly exploration areas and compile ES scanning reports

  • Monitor waste segregation in the processing areas to keep them tidy.

  •  Plans and conducts quality assurance/quality control to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory guidelines and standards.

  • Maintain site identification numbers and hazardous waste generator status for mining area.

  • Prepare, submit and present weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.

  • Participate and support due diligence activities and other environmental assessments conducted inside ETNO.

  • Manage various tasks and projects as they arise and up on Manager’s request.

Job Requirements

Education: bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences, Chemistry, Biology or related. Experience in the Mining sector would be an asset.

A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in the mining industry or other related industry in environmental monitoring and controlling.

Other Requirements

  •  Working knowledge of applicable federal and regional environmental regulations and standards.

  • Familiarization of ISO140001 which includes management of wastewater, water, solid waste, hazardous waste, air, greenhouse gas, and recycling.

  • Have an deep knowledge of environmental protection relative to gold mining processes.

  • Strong data management and project management skills.

  • Experience in providing leadership, direction, guidance, and support with respect to the environmental and permitting functions associated with the operations, exploration, projects.

  • Strong analytical skills to be able to gather, interpret and collate information for reporting.

  • Must understand the gold mining business.

  • Must have strong verbal and written communications skills.
