Background on ACTED

ACTED is a French humanitarian NGO, founded in 1993, which supports vulnerable populations, affected by humanitarian crises worldwide. ACTED provides continued support to vulnerable communities by ensuring the sustainability of post-crisis interventions and engaging long-term challenges facing our target populations, in order to break the poverty cycle, foster development and reduce vulnerability to disasters. Their interventions seek to cover the multiple aspects of humanitarian and development crises through a multidisciplinary approach which is both global and local, and adapted to each context.

ACTED is looking for professionally confident, self-motivated, experienced and committed team player to fill Field Enumerators position in Somali, Ethiopia.

 Position Profile 

The Enumerator is responsible for collecting reliable and accurate data and follows instructions provided by the team leader. Enumerators should conduct household-level surveys and beneficiary registration using digital-based tools such as Kobo Collect, ODK, and COMCARE. Enumerators should also facilitate and support the team leader when conducting focus group discussions and key informant interviews.   

Responsibilities and Duties:

·     Will collect data on KOBO/ODK tools for survey data collection in Somali region.

·       Will conduct House to house Interview and fill all the required questionnaires as per standard and required procedures.

·       Collect data and record responses as instructed using the appropriate tools.

·       Comply with the requirements necessary as per the organization guidelines for data collection.

·        Will facilitate and support team leader during focus group discussion and key informants’ interviews.

·       Participate in daily briefs to report on the previous day’s activities and get updates/instructions from the Field supervisor.

·       Undertake any other duties as may be assigned by the acted MEAL Assistant or designated supervisor.

·       Promoting of and adhering to Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse policy and guidelines (for site residents, acted staff, partner agencies, casual labours).

·       Should execute the tasks described above in accordance with acted`s internal policy and with competence. You should make efficient use of acted`s material and equipment.

·       You will be liable for damage inflicted to equipment or material through gross negligence.

·       Should maintain respectful working relationships with other

 enumerators and team leader.

·       Turn over all literature and materials used in the survey to the acted Team/office.

Job Requirements

·       Must be Ethiopian national with good communications skills of English language (both oral and written), and knowledge of the location context will be an advantage.

·       A minimum of a diploma in Statistics, Agriculture, Agricultural economics, Food Security, Health and Nutrition, Disaster Risk Management, Economics, and any other related Social Sciences.

·       Familiarity with the use of Android-based tablets or Smartphones and mobile data collection. applications such as KOBO collect, ODK and COMCARE.

·       Must be Computer literate and be able to use a smart phone.

·       At least 1 year of involvement in enumeration work with NGOs in Ethiopia.

·       Must speak at least one of the local dialects of the region mentioned.

·       Flexible and ability to work under pressure in emergency situations.

·       Ability to manage time, multitask and prioritize.

·       Innovative, motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision.
