The Accelerated Education Program Manager is responsible for the identification of the education needs development of proposals and implementation of short-term and transitional non-formal education like catch-up classes, bridging courses, and provision of Accelerated Education for out-of-school children and their transition into the formal one. This will be in line with the NRC Global and NRC Ethiopia education strategic priorities for formal and non-formal education.
Generic Responsibilities:
Adherence to NRC policies, guidance, and procedures.
Contribute to the development of the country-wide formal and non-formal education priorities, and initiate, and participate in the development and implementation of Education projects.
Coordinate and support the national education cluster on the formation and smooth functioning of the Accelerated education working group in Ethiopia.
Work with area-level education coordinators and support the implementation of timely, quality, and inclusive formal and non-formal education programs in Ethiopia in line with the strategies, proposals, and donor requirements.
Provide technical support and ensure high technical quality of the formal and nonformal education programs in Ethiopia.
Specific Responsibilities:
Assess trends and changes in the context of the education of displacement-affected children to identify the gaps and indicate ways for timely and quality education support.
Contribute to the development of the NRC education strategy and macro-log frame, theories of change on formal and non-formal education, and ensure their link to other NRC Core Competencies.
Work with and represent NRC on the national education cluster coordination meetings,
With close coordination with the MoE and national education cluster, coordinate and lead the national accelerated education working group.
Work with the respective national and regional education authorities and national and regional education clusters and advocate for the harmonization of the AE program in Ethiopia,
Build the capacity of the education technical team for the smooth, timely, and quality implementation of formal education, accelerated education, and catch-up class according to the prioritized need.

Professional Competencies:
Minimum 3 years’ experience working in a relevant senior-level project implementation role preferably within a humanitarian/recovery context.
Bachelor’s degree in education or a relevant field
Experience of working in complex and volatile contexts
Experience in education programming
Experience with accelerated learning/catch-up programs
Fluency in English both written and spoken.
Context/ Specific skills, knowledge, and experience:
Contextual understanding and knowledge of the Education sector and stakeholders in Ethiopia
Familiarity with Education related minimum standards
Strong communication skills ensuring maintaining good relations and smooth operations with stakeholders.
Detail-oriented and strong analytical skills
Strong project management skills.

Additional Information:
Position: Accelerated Education Program Manager
Grade: 8
Reports to: Head of Programme
Supervision of: Education Coordinators
Duty station: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Travel: 50% (to NRC area offices)
Type of contract: 12 Months (Fixed-terms, renewable based on the availability of funding, performance, and need for position)
