Duties and Responsibilities:

Planning

·         Observe the rules of the Project Management Manual regarding the Vehicles.

·         Keep the vehicles in good conditions and perform checks in accordance with COOPI format

·         Fill the forms for fuel and lubricant consumption for every trip.

·         Respect the necessary timetable for ordinary maintenance of the assigned vehicle as per the form

·         Manage and process all duties at the road authority for the annual inspection

Implementation

·         Drive the vehicle assigned with responsibility. Off-road speed limit 60Km/hrs and asphalt road 80Km/hrs.

·         Dust, while driving especially off-road, causes damages to electronic apparatus in the vehicle. To avoid this, when necessary and if possible, use A/C.

·         Every off-road trip longer than 50 Km or for cumulative off-road trips of more than 50Km check the vehicle in accordance with the form

Reporting

·         Report to the immediate superior the problems related to the vehicle to fix them. Decision to stop the car for maintenance before any further drive must be agreed with the project mechanic and communicated to the immediate superior.

External Coordination

·         Communicate with the fleet manager and other drivers on the updated vehicles technology and minor maintenance techniques at field levels.

Project development

·         Assist project development team in regularly collect information at stakeholder level (Woredas, Kebele and communities) baseline need assessment, gaps.

Main Purpose

·         Performing the tasks of transporting authorized goods and passengers in an COOPI  vehicle, ensuring its technical and safety conditions and respecting the country's traffic rules and COOPI  security rules, in order to provide a safe, smooth and efficient service.

Accountabilities

·         Checking daily, the technical conditions of the assigned vehicle (state of the tires, oil, fuel, brakes, radio equipment, spare parts, etc.), performing weekly check according to the COOPI Logbook, refilling it when necessary, and keeping it clean to ensure it can be driven in perfect conditions. Carrying out a hand over if another uses the vehicle

·         Ensuring the security of passengers in the vehicle, driving carefully, observing speed limits and traffic rules in the country as well as COOPI Security rules, in order to avoid car accidents.

·          Ensuring all passengers have all necessary papers in order before travelling, and ensuring non COOPI staff sign disclaimers of responsibility before using the vehicle

·         Ensuring correct loading and unloading of the vehicle, submitting the documents to the receiver of the goods, checking the status of delivered goods, returning the duly completed documents to Logistics and ensuring that the goods have the necessary documents

·         Ensuring that all vehicle documents and the driver's driving license are valid and in the vehicle.

·         Informing the line manager of any incident involving the transportation of passengers and/or goods.

·         Knowing and respecting the security rules related to vehicle movements, specifically those related to customs, checkpoints and roadblocks. Ensuring all passengers know and respect the security rules

Job Requirements

Qualification and Experience

Ø  Valid 3rd grade driving license

Ø  High School complete plus driving Certificate. 

Ø  Professional experience

Ø  Minimum of five years’ experience as driver

Ø  Good experience in driving off-road

Ø  Experience in handling different liaising activities

Ø  Experience with International organizations

Ø  Good knowledge of safety and security standards

Ø  Fluency in Amharic and Afan Oromo

Ø  Good knowledge of English

. Hardship Allowance 40%

. Field Allowance 6,000 ETB

.  Mobile Card 350 ETB per month

. Medical Insurance 10,000 ETB for Staff and 3,000 ETB for dependent(Spouse and Children)

. Leave days per year 16 working days.
