Job Description
This role is responsible of advise implementation research of projects with priority to Primary health care projects and ensuring its delivery and lead the research, and identification of research questions and disseminations. This position plays a critical alignment in research among PHC and other projects with programs and M and E. Hence, in this position, we are is seeking a senior research and implementation advisor to lead research and implementation activity and technical support of the design, testing, scale up of interventions; including the Health Extension Program Optimization roadmap implementation and innovative lifesaving RMNCH interventions. The research and implementation advisor will be working closely with Improving Primary Health Care Service Delivery project (IPHCSD) team and all RMNCH projects of Amref, and learning partners.
1. Technical leadership in Research
· Provide a technical leadership and support on research and publication activities with priority focus on PHC and RMNCH projects; building capacity in Quantitative and Qualitative research design and execution; provide technical assistance for research design, strategy development, and program assessments in order to strengthen evidence-based PHC and RMNCH programing.
· Coordinate/Advise research in PHC and RMNCH
Provide technical support in publication of papers in peer reviewed journals
Support staff in designing and execution of research studies and generate report writing
o Disseminate research related activities at different events and symposiums
o Actively attend and share evidences at various platforms
o Develop and support project research agenda setting and plans in collaboration with the Amref projects, learning partners and the donor.
o Create a data analysis plan, analyze qualitative and/or quantitative data and writing as needed.
o Provide technical support for policy analysis and documentation
o Proactively work on research and publication in various peer reviewed Journals
2. Capacity building on research
· Provides training, guidance, and oversight of the data collection process; ensure quality standards.
· Provide mentoring, technical assistance and support project staff to implement research and data synthesis and analysis
Provide a capacity development for programs and M and E on implementation research and other research methods
Provide technical assistance for programs in PHC and RMNCH by convening regular meetings and technical guidance for each project
Work closely for the organizational research planning and dissemination
· Participate and involved in the organizational Research strategy plan development
· Provide a training on Research publication at various reputable peer reviewed Journals
3. Communication/knowledge management/sharing and documentation and representation
· Provide input capability development with communication
· Play an interface role KM and provide input in the development of communication materials
· Support and keep documenting research capability statement of Amref
· Support the programs for developing database to research
· Advise and use routine data for evidence generation and for disseminating and sharing of evaluations’ and studies’ findings in collaboration with M and E
· Engaged in various national Research technical research working groups
· Cultivate new/existing learning platforms and support to establish research think thank group
· Actively engage at various Amref community of practice (COP) and share experiences
· Support annual and quarterly activity planning and associated reporting related to research and evidence-based PHC practices and RMNCH
· Work closely with programs and other teams in developing research grants
· Facilitate and engage in national-level review meetings, supportive supervisions, learning sessions, and best practice documentation activities and archiving as knowledge management.
· Work closely with learning and advocacy partners to translate evidence to practice for the primary health care and RMNCH projects.
Academic and Professional Qualifications
· PhD holder’s or Master degrees with extensive research work experience in Public health, social sciences or related field from a recognized university
· Has an experience of Published more than 15 papers at various international Journals with priority high impact factors and Q1 ranked Journals
· Relevant professional qualification in research
Experience
· Minimum of five years’ relevant experience
· Research Design and Execution experience
· Strong understanding of big data management
· Implementation research experience
· Diverse knowledge of various public health issues
· Strong analytical skill and programming
· Strong software skills. Mandatory to understand at least the following software STATA, R, and S
Skills / Competencies:

· Ability to operationalise evidence into action
· Ability to work with diverse groups
