Job Summary

Install, maintain, improve and repair equipment, plant and services to set levels effectively in compliance with best practices ensuring production efficiency can be met within a safe well-presented facility. Respond to technical issues that might arise from production and other user departments which affects production and maintain mechanical services through close follow-up, inspection and Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and training of operators.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Attend breakdowns, identify faults and problem-solve, with minimal downtime to production

• Carry out a diagnosis of faults, the maintenance and repairs to all types of plant and equipment in a safe, timely and professional manner and return equipment to operational service 

• Avails him/herself always on the production floor for close follow-up, inspection and prompt solutions and minimize shift times.

•  Identify and escalate any activity that has the potential to cause harm or damage. 

• Report breakdown root causes, equipment faults and concerns to immediate subordinates

• Ensure all work is undertaken to a high-quality standard and adheres to all quality standard regulations

•  Ensure company targets are met in respect of the quality of parts produced

• Plans and  Identify spare requirements in advance and communicates to immediate supervisor for checking and purchase request.

• Assist in the development of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules

•  Carry out PPM schedules as necessary and planned work orders as required and provide feedback to develop the system

• Plan and prioritize workload to support production and ensure efficient use of working time

• Work within 5S (Sort, Set In Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) methodology to maintain the workplace to a high standard

• Ensure all personal protective equipment is identified, always available, and correctly used and all associated problems are reported to management

• Ensuring all health, safety environmental and quality management procedures are followed and achieving the company’s and departmental KPI targets

• Keep up with current and developing manufacturing and engineering trends regarding maintenance

• Achieve goals within budget

• Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems

•  Assures requests for maintenance and modification have been initiated and records are maintained.

• Provide leadership and assistance to operators.

• Ensures that during shift handover, the previous shift physically shows the shift problems encountered and pending activities for about 10 minutes and shift records are being maintained.

• Identifies spare and worn parts that are required for repairs.

• Prepares and submits timely reports on the log book.

• Ensures major problems are timely communicated through phone calls to supervisors and managers for corrective actions and decisions.

•  Ensure post-maintenance and good manufacturing practice rules in all maintenance working areas.

• Covers any vacant shift whenever required.

• Perform activities which could not be performed within the working time and get them completed and to the standard.

• Ensure that every activity performed is being recorded and provide prompt corrective actions for encountered problems timely.

• Performs daily checkups and inspections in all shifts and recognizes problems before breakdown and damage.

• Performs lubrication and preventive maintenance.

• Performs other duties as may be required by his immediate supervisor.

• Any other duty which may be assigned on time to time basis.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

• Diploma or BSc Degree in Mechanical Engineering

• Computer skill

Experience:

• 4+ years for diploma or 2+ years experience for BA degree holders in the manufacturing industry.
