Job Description

Main purpose of the job:

Reporting to the Operations Manager, a Production Team Leader is responsible for leading production team in a shift and is engaged in planning, organizing, and supervising production activities to ensure the safely and timely supply of products with the right quality. The position holder is responsible for creating and implementing standards, be involved in continuous improvement initiatives, enable operational staff to run their operation optimally, and identify and work on rooms for improvement. It is also expected from the job holder to implement world class manufacturing practices to lift the production function to the required level, do root cause failure analyses and be involved in BDAs.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Creates and maintains a safe environment for employees, contractors and visitors according to the applicable statutory, company and local regulations, policies and procedures

  • Raises safety awareness among colleagues and with his/her manager and proposes improvement actions

  • Recognizes specific safety risks and implements improvement actions

  • Ensures Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) is always practiced in all areas

  • Implements food safety requirements and procedures at all times

  • Takes immediate appropriate action and reports food safety management system related problems to the right person/s

  • Sustains and improves product quality and process conditions throughout the production process, in compliance with the company and local quality standards, regulations and procedures

  • Seeks information and improvement opportunities and assures quality improvement activities within own area of responsibility are executed

  • Translates company vision and strategy into department strategy, objectives, priorities and targets and creates commitment of the team to implement it

  • Observes and signals risks to meet targets and takes appropriate measures

  • Effectively manages the production process and assures OTIF delivery of the production plan by ensuring the optimal engagement of people and overseeing the interfaces with other functions

  • Ensures continuous improvement in the execution of activities to optimize output

  • Ensures the development and execution of AM/CILT activities, supports delivery of the maintenance plan, and controls the delivered maintenance services to the production assets

  • Aligns AM and PM activities to drive departmental performance

  • Contributes to the budget preparation process, manages costs within budget and judges financial impact of performance and decisions.

  • Optimizes financial impact when making operational decisions

  • Manages a project by developing an accurate plan, defining clear scope and allocating sufficient resources to achieve specific goals On-Time-In-Full (OTIF) and within budget

  • Manages projects within and between departments; typically, TPM improvement projects, NPIs with limited scope, product trials, etc

  • Plans and deploys resources (people, materials, process and equipment) to meet customer needs safely whilst excelling at quality and balancing costs

  • Leads, manages, evaluates, coaches, and gives feedback to team members

  • Proactively develops plans and manages resources to drive improvements in department and process performance

  • Identifies and drives key performance data collection and reports in order to maximize and improve operational and business performance activities

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Job Requirements

Experience & skills required

  • BSc and above in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, chemical engineering, food science & post-harvest technology, technology of food science & nutrition, food hygiene, food engineering, applied chemistry, industrial chemistry or other related fields

Experience:

  • 5 years and above in a manufacturing industry preferably in FMCG, out of which 3 years as a production team leader or any other people management role. Having good experience on implementation and management of TPM initiatives, quality management systems and experience in managing people is desirable

Language:

  • Able to speak, read and write in English

Computer:

  • MS Office applications, especially MS Excel, use of computer applications and ERP tools
