Job Description

Ethio Wetlands and Natural Resources Association (EWNRA) is a civil society organization/not-for-profit working to contribute to sustainable development goals in Ethiopia. Currently, the organization is looking to hire an experienced Gender Officer to address gender issues in all its projects and at organization level, and invites experienced and qualified candidates to apply for the vacant post.

Duties And Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of and being accountable to the Program Director of EWNRA, the Gender Officer will be responsible:

  • To ensure gender mainstreaming in all projects, organizational policies, planning documents, budget and implementation processes,

  • To promote inclusiveness in a decision-making process to duly consider gender and create opportunities to women and girls by providing differentiated support in a way that enhances gender equality and equity,

  • To create gender sensitive working environment and culture within the staffs and target communities through enhancing knowledge, attitude and practices (KAP) of staffs and communities,

  • To create strong linkage with like-minded and gender focused organizations through fostering working partnership,

  • To undertake revision of organizational working documents from gender perspective for efficient gender mainstreaming as stipulated in the policy,

  • To realize gender mainstreaming by participating in project planning, monitoring and evaluation, keep gender segregated data and knowledge management 

Terms of employment: one-year contract with possibility of renewal; 45 days probation period

Number required:  1 (one)         

Duty Station: Addis Ababa with extensive travel to project areas to support the field staffs

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experience:

  • the potential candidate for the post should have MA degree from a recognized University/College in Gender and Development related fields with combination of short trainings and hands-on work experience of at least 5 years in gender mainstreaming and advocacy.

Additional requirements for the positions:

  • Competency in computer applications of MS Offices packages is required.

  • Excellent ability of English language

  • High communication ability, helpful, team player, gender sensitive and humanitarian

  • Have a strong commitment and openness to learn and share.
