German Leprosy and TB Relief Association Ethiopia (GLRA-Ethiopia) is a non-profit international NGO working in the field of TB, Leprosy, and other NTDs as well as on Humanitarian aid and Socio-economic rehabilitation and research. In this regard, GLRA is planning to implement a two years project entitled “Improve food security and livelihood resilience of target marginalized communities in Bisidimo area, Babile district” from 2023-2025. The main objective of this humanitarian project is to improve the resilience capacity of leprosy-affected persons and other people with disabilities in the Bisidimo area so that they can be resilient to present and future climate and economic crises. In order to reduce the vulnerability of marginalized communities the project will support interventions intended to increase production from farming and off-farming activities and promote environmental protection. For this project, we are looking for motivated staff who will coordinate the implementation of the project.
Job Purposes:
The main purpose of the position is to lead and manage the implementation of the above project. The position is based in Bisidimo and will report to GLRA-Ethiopia CBID team leader in Addis Ababa and Bisidimo Hospital administration.
Job Summary:
Plans, organizes, coordinates, and participates in the overall activities of the project.
Works in close collaboration with Bisidimo Hospital, Babile Woreda, and ifadin kebele administration.
Keeps networking with relevant stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation of the project.
Involvement in the identification and selection of beneficiaries.
Organizes and facilitate entrepreneurship training for beneficiaries.
Conduct regular follow up on the status of beneficiaries involved in off-farm activities
Facilitate restocking activities(purchase and distribution of goats)
Work with Haromaya University and Babile animal health department to improve the productivity of the goats; by introducing hybrid goats and continuous vaccination.
Coordinate small irrigation activities, by organizing small groups and facilitating necessary supplies(water pump, tools, seeds, etc)
Facilitate and provide awareness of environmental protection together with other government staffs.
Initiate, and monitor environmental protection measures by beneficiaries and local communities (like planting of local trees, water harvesting, soil protection etc.)
Organizes and facilitates meetings and discussions with partners
Identifies/facilitates the supply of all necessary logistics for the implementation of the project in collaboration with Bisidimo Hospital and GLRA Ethiopia.
Coordinate and actively participate in baseline study (data collection) and End line evaluation
Follows and implements appropriate decisions and recommendations given by GLRA, RCB, and other partners the decisions of, and reports the implementation status to GLRA-Ethiopia.
Follows & ensures proper utilization of project resources & reports it to GLRA-Ethiopia.
Collecting and compiling project activities, and reporting them to GLRA-Ethiopia.
Regularly monitors/supervises the project implementation sites in collaboration with other stockholders.
Compiles, analyzes, and reports lessons learned challenges & gaps encountered with the corrective actions taken & recommendations.
Undertakes any other tasks/duties as directed by the employer.
Duty station: Bisidimo, 25 km from Harar town
Type of employment: Fixed term for 22 months
REPORTING: To GLRA Ethiopia CBID coordinator
Qualification:
Social science background; BA In a social work-related field with 5 years of work experience
Master degree in social work-related field with 2 years of work experience
Experience in conducting and coordinating fieldwork related to health research
High competency in English
NGO experience desired
Experience in humanitarian desired
Excellent interpersonal communication skills
Knowledge of the local language
