Job Title : Senior Mechanic

Reports to: Maintenance Manager

Department: Technic

Location: Adama Industrial Park, Adama

Job Summary: Install, troubleshoot, repair, document and maintain mechanical components associated with production and auxiliary machineries, directs the work of shift mechanics and maintenance staff on projects and operation as part of a collaborative team to support the achievement of the company’s business goals and objectives.

Responsibilities

• Handle plastic recycling machineries installation projects from start to finish, including initiating contact with vendors to review equipment problems and determine proper repairs or improvements to equipment. 

• Performs preventive maintenance as scheduled or required on production and auxiliary  equipment and machineries as recommended by the manufacturer and on site safety programs

• Responsible  for leading the troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining production and facility electrical equipment and components according to safety, productive maintenance systems and processes. 

• Developing, reviewing, updating, modifying, and approving mechanical maintenance plans and work schedules.

• Makes periodic inspection tours to check all recycling machineries functioning properly

• Carry out a diagnosis of faults, the maintenance and repairs to all types of plant and equipment in a safe, timely and professional manner and return equipment to operational service

• Leads and performs varied mechanical duties such as dismantling, moving, cleaning, repairing and installing facility machineries 

• Notifies his/her immediate supervisor of potentially dangerous systems and takes corrective action

• Assist in training, developing mechanical work force and assist in managing in the shop floor

• Plans and  Identify spare requirements in advance and communicates to immediate supervisor for checking and purchase request

• Follows all safety related policies, rules, regulations, technical instructions and guidelines

Job Requirements

Required Competencies:

• Have COC certification

• Hands on experience in installation of production machineries and equipments

• Hands on experience in plastic recycling mechanical maintenance

• Planning and coordination

• Critical thinker and problem-solving skills

• Good time-management skills

• MS office/Autocad

Qualification:

• TVET (10+4) or Diploma or above in General Mechanics, Electronics or related field of study or 

• BSc Degree in Mechanical Engineering

Experience:

• 6+years for TVET/diploma or 4+years experience for BSc degree holders in the manufacturing industry, out of which 2+ years experience as senior position 

• Experience in plastic manufacturing is preferred.
