Job Title : Shift Mechanic

Reports to: Senior Mechanic

Department: Technic

Location: Adama Industrial Park, Adama

Job Summary

Responsible for handling maintenance and troubleshooting of recycling plant machinery and equipment in his/her respective shift to ensure smooth operation. Solve technical problems that affect production by following maintenance procedures and standards. 

Responsibilities

• Assists the senior mechanics and maintenance team with maintenance tasks.

• Execute and implement mechanical maintenance plans to prevent costly equipment breakdowns.

• Troubleshoot mechanical malfunctions and breakdowns, as well as performing repairs.

• Report breakdown root causes, equipment faults and concerns to immediate subordinates

• Collaborate with other mechanics and electricians during the installation, modification and periodic preventive maintenance of production machinery

• Covers shifts or works for extended hours whenever there exists shortage of manpower

• Ensure proper handover of the shift to next mechanic by recording outstanding maintenance works and updating shift activities

• Performs daily checkups and inspections in his/her respective shift and recognizes problems before breakdown and damage

• Ensure all health, safety, environmental and quality management procedures are followed during performing maintenance activities. 

• Support in optimizing mechanical efficiency by adjusting machinery and equipment setting

Job Requirements

Required Competencies

• Have COC certification

• Ability to read and prepare  drawings 

• Hands on experience in plastic recycling machineries maintenance

• Critical thinker and problem-solving skills

• Good time-management skills

• Autocad/any mechanical design software is a plus

Qualification:

• TVET/Diploma or above in General Mechanics, Fabrication or related field of study or 

• BSc Degree in Mechanical Engineering

Experience

• 4+years for TVET/diploma or 2+years experience for BA degree holders in the manufacturing industry as mechanics 

• Experience in plastic manufacturing is preferred.
