Job Description
The Opportunity
The position holder will be responsible to lead and support the development and implementation of its communication and advocacy strategy. Reporting to the Influencing Specialist, the coordinator will be responsible for supporting the delivery of high-quality communications and advocacy products, building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, and ensuring the effective dissemination of Plan International’s messages to target audiences.

Safeguarding Children and Young People (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI)
Understands and puts into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), ensuring that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.
Ensures that all staff signed safeguarding policies;
Implement Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in day to day work.
Job Requirements
The Individual
Qualifications/ Experience Essential:
Maximum a Master’s and minimum a Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, possibly Social Science, Political Science and International Relation or a related field.
At least 7 years of experience in communications and advocacy, preferably in the non-profit or development sector.
Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills, with a proven track record of developing and delivering high-quality advocacy works and communication products.
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective communication and advocacy strategies.
Strong understanding of social media and digital media trends and best practices.
Experience in managing relationships with media outlets and partners.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with colleagues across an organization.
Fluent in English, with proficiency in at least one other language preferred.
Willingness to travel as needed.
Qualification Desirable:
Ability to influence policies at ground and national level
Proven ability to work with media, diverse networks, coalitions and partners to achieve common goals
Ability to write clear and concise reports, statements, and to meet short deadlines.
Experience training and capacity building other staff in principles of influencing and media.
Computer literacy skills with excellent oral and presentation communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to manage complex and sensitive organizational relationships to achieve cross-organizational, mutually agreed goals.
Languages Required:
Fluency in English and Amharic language is essential (perfect written and spoken)
