Job Description
Second/first degree in Accounting, Accounting & Finance and related fields of study and at least 10/12 years of relevant work experience. Training in Peachtree accounting software application and IPSAS.
Job Summary:
the Senior Accountant reviews, verifies, checks the completeness and adequacy of financial documents;
inspects & tests books of accounts for accuracy and performs other advanced general accounting tasks;
follows up budget requisition, consolidation, endorsement and implementation of other matters related to the funds/projects/offices assigned;
analyzes records of present and past operations, trends and costs, estimated and expenses incurred to project operation;
verifies that bank statements are reconciled with the book of accounts;
verifies that expenditures are justified, properly made and signed and charged to correct accounts/fund/project budget;
ensures that the financial books are always kept up-to-date, timely closed and audited;
prepares periodic and end-of-period financial reports and statements resulting from subsidiary and general ledger accounts;
undertakes analysis on financial statements and other financial matters of the assigned projects/programs/branch office.
Reports to: Head Finance Division
Terms of Employment: One year contract with possibility of extension based on availability of budget and performance.
Duty Station: Head office Addis Ababa.
