Since 1970, Samaritan’s Purse has helped meet needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine. Samaritan’s Purse is privileged to be part of the humanitarian effort in Ethiopia and legally registered as foreign charity to work in Ethiopia since October 08, 2018.

JOB SUMMARY  

The Accountability Officer is responsible for ensuring effective beneficiary education on ration entitlements through conducting pre-distribution assessments, process monitoring, reflection sessions, and other opportunities for communicating with beneficiaries. The position involves ensuring the display of banners with entitlement information in local languages and audio announcements, as well as adherence to SP Human Resource policies and procedures by all project staff, volunteers, and contractors. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with Community Engagement Officers to ensure effective beneficiary education on ration entitlements by displaying banners with entitlement information in local languages and making periodic audio announcements

  • Conduct pre-distribution assessments, process monitoring, and reflection sessions to identify opportunities for transitioning the target communities from unconditional GFD to other resilience building programming

  • Ensure compliance with SP Human Resource policies and procedures by all project staff, volunteers, and contractors by conducting training on and emphasizing adherence to the Code of Conduct, Child and Adult Safeguarding Policy, Anti-Fraud, Theft and Corruption Policy, and Anti-Terrorism Policies

  • Hold staff, casual laborers, community volunteers, and contractors accountable for ensuring they conduct themselves with respect and dignity according to SP Safeguarding and Code of Conduct Policy by having them read and sign the Safeguarding Policy and Code of Conduct

  • Enforce the zero-tolerance policy for sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) and mismanagement of resources under the organization's care

  • Conduct any other related duties as assigned by the supervisor

Job Requirements

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE NEEDED

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as social sciences, development studies, or humanitarian aid

  • At least three years of experience in community engagement or program accountability, preferably in the humanitarian sector 

LANGUAGE 

  • Amharic and English (spoken and written required)

  • Somali languages strongly desired
