Samaritan’s Purse is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Since 1970, Samaritan’s Purse has helped meet needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine. Samaritan’s Purse is privileged to be part of the humanitarian effort in Ethiopia and legally registered as foreign charity to work in Ethiopia since October 08, 2018.
JOB SUMMARY
The Finance Coordinator will be responsible for the financial health of our organization by managing our financial procedures. The duties will include planning budgets, participating in audits, monitoring transactions, and preparing invoices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the Finance Manager in setting up and implementing Samaritan’s Purse accounting systems and procedures over cash
Provide required weekly reports by specified deadlines to the Finance Manager as assigned.
Ensure financial/accounting activity is carried out accurately and in accordance with Samaritan’s Purse field accounting policies
Review and ensure accuracy of financial transactions for Samaritan’s Purse (SP) field operations based in the region as appropriate (includes vouchers, FERs, Cash Advances, transfers, etc.)
Administer all cash advances to employees and partners, reconciling all receipts and cash
Responsible for deducting Withholding taxes and staff per-diem taxes on payment declarations to ERCA thereof
Ensure administrative and financial activity is carried out in accordance with SP field policies
Provide support to other office staff with regards to administrative needs
Support preparation of monthly, quarterly and yearly financial reports.
Closely work with logistics staff to ensure logistics systems adhere to finance's minimum standards.
Maintain detailed records for all financial transactions in an organized and professional manner
Perform daily functions including recording all cash, maintain cash ledgers, monitor cash advances and field expense reports, and reconcile cash on hand
Ensure all cash is reconciled on a daily basis, reporting any over/under to Finance Manager and investigate any over/under situations
Prepare and review payroll with all the applicable taxes and deductions.
Facilitate filling of tax returns with ECRA
Participate in both internal and external audits
Maintain close working relationships with Finance team
Support banking and maintain a healthy relationship with the banks and tax office.
Provide support to Area Coordinator and/or Program Managers with regard to financial policies/practices and related areas as required
Identify areas for financial and administrative improvement and work to implement feasible improvements
Follow all procedures provided by the Finance Manager and Country Director
Maintain accuracy in financial records
Any other duties as may be required from time to time.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE NEEDED
BA in Accounting, Finance or related field of study and four to five years NGO experience
LANGUAGE
Amharic and English (spoken and written required)
Somali languages strongly desired
