Since 1970, Samaritan’s Purse has helped meet needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine. Samaritan’s Purse is privileged to be part of the humanitarian effort in Ethiopia and legally registered as foreign charity to work in Ethiopia since October 08, 2018.
JOB SUMMARY
Provide overall management at assigned Food Distribution Points (FDP) or Project sites, coordinating all activities with WFP staff, Local Leaders and Food Management Committee Members. The Food Monitor (FM) is responsible for overseeing and verifying the various processes involved in the movement of food commodities, such as delivery, storage, transportation and distribution, at the site and storage locations. The FM ensures that all activities are carried out in accordance with the established WFP and SP procedures and standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
·Oversee the entire process of food commodity movements at the site, from delivery to distribution.
Support and guide the field commodity teams in the proper management of food aid resources in line with the SP/donor commodity management guide.
Monitor food and related resources in all SP managed warehouses and ensure the commodities are stored in line with Donor/SP standard.
Follow up that necessary food packages are in place before beneficiaries called for distribution.
Monitor and review the records of food deliveries, storage, transport and distribution, and verify that there are no discrepancies or losses.
Supervise the food distribution at the site and ensure that the beneficiaries receive their proper entitlements according to the approved procedures.
Liaise with relevant government offices to ensure smooth and efficient food programming. Coordinate with the Woreda team leader, community facilitators and other stakeholders to provide feedback on the distribution process and address any issues or challenges.
Complete warehouse management and commodity distribution inspection checklist for each warehouse visit and distribution attendance.
Conduct pre and post food distribution monitoring, summarize, analyze and report the findings to the program department. As part of the PDM, conduct interviews with a sample of beneficiaries to assess their satisfaction with the ration scale and the quality of food distributed. Check that beneficiaries are getting the entitlement based on the approved ration size and anticipated distribution period.

Troubleshoot all distribution/project activity issues at field level, with guidance from Supervisors.
Complete daily distribution reports, submitting to Distribution Officer on a daily basis and produce monthly reports and submit them to the office with copies to field staff.
Provide on the job food assistance training to Distribution Assistants/casual laborers, PMC Members and other stakeholders as directed.
Mobilize the communities, distribution team members for Food/Non-Food Distribution as and when the need arises or as directed by the Program Manager, Program coordinators Officer and/or Project Supervisor.
Maintain a strong Christian witness to your colleagues and the communities you serve.
Any other duties as assigned by the Supervisors.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE NEEDED
Diploma in Accounting or related field
At least 2 year of experience in the same position, preferably with a relief-based NGO.
LANGUAGE
Amharic and English (spoken and written required)
Somali language strongly desired

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be exposed to loud noises around the maintenance and construction workshops.
