Safaricom Telecommunications Ethiopia New Vacancy Announcement: Safaricom Ethiopia is looking for a qualified person who meets the criteria indicated below.

Safaricom Ethiopia is owned by an international consortium including Vodafone Group; Safaricom PLC; Vodacom Group; Sumitomo Corporation – one of the largest international trading and business investment companies; and British International Investment (BII) – the UK’s development finance institution and impact investor.

Job requirements

Must have technical / professional qualifications:

• Relevant Degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, plus professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA or equivalent) or post graduate qualification.

• 15 years of broad, progressive experience in all facets of Finance in a multinational setting i.e., Management Accounting, Forecasting and Planning, Financial Accounting, and Finance Operations.

• Expert proficiency in more than two areas of finance e.g., Management Accounting, Forecasting and Planning, Financial Accounting, and Audit

• The Financial Controller will be responsible for putting in place strong accounting and reporting throughout the Ethiopian companies, including overseeing and monitoring an effective control and compliance environment and providing strategic information and advice to the management team and Safaricom Ethiopia Board. He is also responsible for preparation and publishing of the statutory accounts in compliance with relevant standards, and filing them with the relevant regulatory authorities.

• The position is also responsible for the preparation of budget spending reports, treasury forecasts, cost analysis reports, profit or loss statements, as well as making recommendations for spending or cost cuts.

• The finance controller will also be heavily involved in business transactions or acquisitions sharing the key input on statutory, funding and accounting treatment considerations to name a few.
