Job Description
The Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) was founded in 1970 through the initiative of the Norwegian and Swedish Save the Children organizations seconded by the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia. The Institute got its name from the Norwegian physician, Gerhard Henrik Armauer Hansen, who first described the leprosy bacillus (Mycobacterium leprae). AHRI is a biomedical research institute that works in developing tools for prevention, control and treatment of mycobacterium and other diseases of public healthy importance through applied and basic biomedical research and training.
AHRI would like to hire qualified candidate in the position of Researcher I under Knowledge Management Directorate.
Job Description
A Researcher I (Biostatistician) is a professional who works on biomedical and clinical researches from proposal to write up. Bio-statistician conduct research, as well as consults researchers and students in regards to in each stage of research methodology and give formal training for researchers and students. He/she typically works in an office or field research activities with the assigned biomedical researchers. Bio-statisticians will be a part of the knowledge management directorate and he/she mange and analyze the data according to the institution standard operating procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Supports designing a methodology for statistical investigations
· Suggests statistical methodology to different data collection
· Assists study design and development of statistical section in clinical trial protocol
· Organize data gathered scheme during any research
· Supports data safety monitoring
· Design database using REDcap and Open clinical,
· Compute and analyze data, using statistical software (R, sas, Stata &python)
· Summarize findings, create reports, including charts and graphs, maintain databases of statistical information, and keep hard files of surveys and interpret findings of analyses
· Presenting information in a variety of formats
· Conveying simplified information to people who may not familiar with statistical method
Establish and maintain policies, standards and guidance for biostatistics operations
· Perform other related tasks as assigned by supervisors
Personal Attributes:
The candidate for the job is expected to have
· Relevant experience in design and development of studies, gather and compile research data and document lessons learned.
· Excellent experience in advanced statistical modeling
· Demonstrated excellent communication, advocacy, liaison and interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate with various stakeholders: express concisely and clearly ideas and concepts in written and oral form
· Critical thinking skills and ability to work under minimum supervision Excellent proficiency in English (writing and speaking) Strong Statistical software literacy especially command driven (R, SaS & Stata/python)
· Excellent experience in scientific data analysis, interpretation and presentation
· Proven experience in manual and guideline preparation.
· Good general work habits, capacity building and people skills
· Committed to the values of integrity, accountability, transparency, and scientific rigor
· Practical experience in medical research
· Basic understanding in health research ethics and in national and international laws related to health research
· Well organized; flexible to working off-working hours or weekends as needed

Job Requirement
Education, Experience & Publication Point:
- MSc in Biostatistics and 6 years of experience and 7 publication points: OR
- PhD in Biostatistics and 4 years of experience and 6 publication points
