Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Project Coordinator, Logistics Officer is responsible for store operations, distribution operations, freight, and fleet management.     

Description of duties and responsibilities:  

Warehouse and inventory operation management  

  • Monitor the daily receiving and dispatching of commodities  

  • Ensure inspection of commodities is done by technical staff and confirm quality

  • Verify the incoming and outgoing commodities against documentation  

  • Ensure recording warehouse transactions

  • Ensure safety and security in the warehouse operation  

  • Ensure access control in the warehouse operation  

  • Ensure distribution of commodities based on approved requests and distribution plan

  • Prepare and provide periodic commodity stock transaction

Freight transportation and distribution of commodities   

  • Conduct market assessment on freight transportation locally

  • Identification of reliable freight transportation service providers in the local market

  • Contracting with freight transporters

  • Monitoring the freight transport service

  • Ensure efficiency in freight transportation   

  • Process payment for freight transport service

  • Prepare and provide periodic service

Fleet Management

  • Ensure safety and security of staff and commodities/ assets in fleet management.

  • Monitor the vehicle daily movement of vehicles in a coordinated manner

  • Ensure planning and coordinating of vehicle needs.

  • Ensure timely vehicle maintenance

  •  Ensure movement recording in a Log sheet/Log Book.

  • Prepare and share periodic Log sheet summary report,

Team Management and administrative activities

  • Ensure team work

  • Monitor the daily activities of logistics team

  • Monitor administrative activities such as premise, facilities and utilities management

Note: The jobholder shall handle any related activities and responsibilities as per the request of his/her supervisor and higher authorities. 

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of B.A Degree in Business Administration, Management, Logistics & Supply Chain Management, or related

  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience for Bachelor degree and 2 year for Masters Degree.

  • Plan & organize work clearly

  • Show enthusiasm in learning and sharing

  • Completes what he/she has started

  • High Social skill (work with people well)

  • Oromigna language is essential
