Job Description

Greek Community School in Addis Ababa is looking for an experienced School Principal in contract basis, who is capable of doing the following responsibilities.

General Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that academic policies and curriculum are followed

  • Develop and track benchmarks for measuring institutional success

  • Help teachers maximize their teaching potential

  • Meet and listen to concerns of students on a regular basis

  • Encourage, guide, and assist student leaders and teachers

Specific Responsibilities:

1. School Policy and Program Development

  • Participate in the development and implementation of school policies and programs

  • Provide leadership in establishing educational goals for the school

  • Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate the curriculum and instructional programs

  • Provide guidance in the preparation of the school capital budget

2. School Operations Management

  • Maintain an inventory of all equipment and supplies within the school

  • Evaluate the condition of the buildings, compound, and equipment

  • Provide leadership and structure for meeting the day-to-day operating needs of the

  • school

  • Establish and enforce regulations for student behavior

3. Student and Staff Support

  • Provide leadership in the supervision of extra and co-curricular activities

  • Establish programs and activities designed to foster positive relationships among

  • students and between students and staff

  • Develop a communication plan for students and staff

  • Effectively evaluate the teaching staff through the use of different models of evaluation

  • Effectively evaluate classified staff in conjunction with appropriate supervisor(s)

4. Personnel Management

  • Recognize the need to build a staff that is representative of the international culture of

  • the school

  • Assist in the selection, retention, evaluation, reassignment, and promotion of all school

  • personnel

  • Provide leadership for professional, classified, and administrative personnel

5. Community and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Establish a positive environment for the staff members, students, parents, and community

  • Meet with parent school councils and other school support groups

  • Work with community and other agencies on issues that relate to schools and/or students' welfare in the school or in the community

  • Provide for the development of a school newsletter which will be distributed to parents at least once during each quarter

6. Technology Planning and Implementation

Be responsible for the implementation of a school technology plan. Overall, the role of a principal requires strong organizational and leadership skills, as well as a commitment to academic excellence and student success.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Second degree or above in education, educational leadership, curriculum or educational psychology.

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in teaching, out of which 5 years should be in Cambridge schools.

  • Minimum of 5 years in any academic leadership position, preferably in Cambridge schools.

  • Experience or exposure of working on Cambridge AS and A level will be preferred.

  • Knowledge of educational policy and trends on a national and international scale.

  • Experience of working in any international non-profitable organizations will be an added advantage.

  • Any Cambridge diploma, certificate or trainings will be an added advantage.
