Summary:
Based in Addis Ababa, the Clinical Program Associate in close coordination and supervision with the CPD provides support and coordination of the CVT Ethiopia interdisciplinary team Director.
S/he is responsible for assisting in the promotion of efficient and collaborative decision-making across disciplines and field-sites, standardized implementation of supervision structures and management policies, and equitable, realistic workload distribution.
S/he provides coverage to the Clinical Program Director in:
Attending matters of the programs while the CPD is focusing or traveling to one of them, including helping in the development, implementation, and compliance,
Representing CVT externally (donors, national actors and partner agencies) in his/her absence or in his/her coordination.
Reviewing the reporting and follow up of the clinical activities.
Coordinating with the Administration, Risk Management and Monitoring and Evaluation departments for the implementation and follow up of the clinical activities.
S/he generates plans for the implementation and follow up of the clinical activities in the programs in close coordination with the Physiotherapy and Psychotherapy Trainers and under the supervision and review of the Clinical Programs Director and the Clinical Advisors.
S/he provides feedback and proposes ways of action to the clinical leadership and the field management team to strengthen accountability structures across the clinical team.
S/he enhances interdepartmental collaboration through coordination with the field management team. The Clinical Program Associate acts as the organizational representative at Addis-level technical meetings when assigned by the Clinical Programs Director or in her/his absence and works to build collaborative relationships between CVT and donors, national actors, and partner agencies (national or international).

CVT is an international nonprofit dedicated to providing trauma healing services to survivors of war and other violations. CVT works toward a future in which these violations cease to exist and victims have hope for a new life. We are headquartered in Minnesota, USA with offices in Africa and the Middle East. We work locally, nationally and internationally through programs that provide trauma rehabilitation, conduct technical assistance and capacity building to human rights activists, civil society organizations, and local service providers around the world who can prevent and treat gross human rights abuses, and advocate for human rights and an end to gross human rights violations.
Job Responsibilities:
30% Clinical Team Assistance
Support productive and cohesive teams of clinical professionals in the field sites:
Generate implementation plans for clinical activities in coordination with the CPD, the CA and the Psychotherapist or Physiotherapist/Trainers and follow up on the progress. Reports to the CPD its findings and helps to find solutions to eventual problems of implementation.
Work closely with the Clinical Programs Director in his/her coordination with Human Resources Manager, Zonal Managers and Country Director to ensure adherence to CVT Ethiopia policies, procedures, systems guidelines and values.
Serve as role model and encourage best practices in staff well-being.
Supports the Clinical Programs Director in generating staff support structures for CVT Ethiopia teams, including planning, coordinating and following up on the coordination of staff care activities, and monitoring the need for and quality of staff care programming.
Participate in the hiring, orientation, and training of new local staff clinical members, as applicable.
30% Clinical Program Support
Ensure achievement of clinical program goals, coordinate workflows, implement policies and practices, and facilitate communication across the team
In partnership with the Clinical Programs Director, monitors quality of client care and assist in the development of policies and best practices.
Monitor progress achieved towards program objectives and provides feedback to the Clinical Programs Director to find solutions for unmet targets.
Provides coverage for the Clinical Programs Director in supporting Trainers to coordinate various team activities, including internal meetings, workload distribution and task allocation, leave planning, communication, and decision making.
Assist in the designing, organization, and implementation of training and capacity building activities under the supervision of the Clinical Programs Director and the Clinical Advisors as appropriate.
Participates in internal committees and task forces dedicated to clinical program content and development as appropriate.
Provides coverage in the revision of monthly, quarterly and annual reports, both internal and external, on clinical activities.
10% Coordination and Collaboration of CVT Programs
Promotes coordination and collaboration between CVT-Tigray, CVT-Amhara and CVT-Gambella, as well as any future CVT programming in Ethiopia.
Collaborates with the Clinical Programs Director to assist in clear, timely and thorough communication across clinical and administrative teams.
Ensure information-sharing between CVT-Ethiopia programs to reduce inefficiencies and overlap in work.
Assists in the coordination and facilitation of annual or bi-annual regional workshops for CVT program leadership to provide joint learning opportunities as assigned by the Clinical Programs Director.
10% Coordination of Internship Program
In collaboration with CPD coordinate CVTs internship program. This includes
Coordinate with University Psychology and Physiotherapy Head of Departments and be focal person
Create an application process (advertisement, recruitment process, deployment) in collaboration with both Physiotherapist and Psychotherapist/Trainers and Field HR.
In collaboration with field teams organize mentors for each intern to ensure adequate coaching and mentoring
Monitor intern performance development with field teams
At the end of internship support field team to ensure completion of internship evaluation
Meet with HODs to share end of completion evaluation
10% Staff care and wellbeing
Monitor staff care and wellbeing practices in country for CVT staff
Based on availability, respond to IPs requests for group support and crisis support
5% Partner Relations and External Relations
Contribute to the development of productive and strategic in-country relationships in order to facilitate achievement of broad program and clinical goals. Assist and provide coverage to the Clinical Programs Director representation in coordination forums and external training activities as assigned.
5% Other Duties:
Participate in other program and organization-wide activities, meetings and trainings.
Perform other duties as assigned.

This job profile can be adapted and changed according to the evolution of CVT activities.

Qualifications:
Required education, experience, certificates, licenses or registrations
Advanced degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work or related field.
Minimum of 1-2 years of management experience within an international healthcare setting including administrative and clinical supervision of staff.
Minimum 1 year leadership experience as an organizational representative in an international, interagency humanitarian setting.
Capacity building experience, including conducting in-person and remote training, developing high quality training material.
Experience working in a trauma treatment context internationally and in humanitarian contexts.
Internal candidates: At least two years as a Counseling Supervisor at CVT or equivalent. Experience or competencies in managing and supervising mental health staff required.
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
Understanding of and experience implementing culturally appropriate interventions, including individual, group and community-based approaches for people who have experienced torture, war trauma, forced displacement and/or chronic stress.
Demonstrated capacity for coordination, organization skills, follow up and professional communication in interdisciplinary teams.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Fluent in English. Proficiency in Amharic, Tigrinya or Nuer desirable.
Supervisory Responsibilities: The Clinical Program Associate does not have supervisory responsibilities. However, it works in close coordination with the Clinical Programs Director and provides coverage while away or during visits to the field, therefore at times it can delegate tasks to the Psychotherapist-trainers
Internal Collaboration: (Associate) Psychotherapist/Trainers, (Associate) Physiotherapist/Trainers, Psychotherapist/Trainers, Zonal Managers, M&E team, national clinicians and program staff, HR Manager, and Country Director, (HQ) International Services Program Team, Research Department.
External Collaboration: Beneficiaries, other service providers in the field, referral partners, universities, members of MHPSS Working Group meeting, donors, and funders.
Work Environment:
Under normal conditions, work will be completed in an office environment with frequent visits to field program sites where amenities may be limited.
Remote working from home when necessary due to security/public health conditions or other reasons
Time spent on the computer is approximately 60%
Regular work week is Monday through Friday
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, see and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and stand for up to 2 hours; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift supplies, of 15kg and climb up to 5 flights of stairs.
Travel: Ability to travel to a variety of locations on a regular basis. Ability to travel between 3-15 hours per week by airplane and/or vehicle, including on unpaved roads, to program locations.
