POSITION OVERVIEW

Gebeya and its Consortium partners are working on a program funded by The Mastercard Foundation. The program is a multi-phase, five-year program to create, support, and nurture 100 multi-sided Gig and Professional Marketplaces (GPMs) in Ethiopia. This program is expected to create opportunities for 1 million highly skilled workers in five years with a focus on women and disadvantaged young people. It will also create entrepreneurship opportunities for 100 entrepreneurs to set up and operate GPMs.

We're VC-backed, a team of 50+ passionate people with offices in the US, Kenya, Ethiopia, and Senegal. Moreover, Gebeya is SaaS Enabled Marketplace with a marketplace created to bridge the labor gap between skilled freelancers and companies in Africa, and with a SaaS which offers software features to marketplace owners. Gebeya is essentially strengthening the continent’s presence and competitiveness throughout the global gig economy 

As the Regional Coordinator you will closely work with the Regional Project Manager to carry-out the Mesirat projects mission in your specified region and cluster cities. The ideal candidate will have a background in project coordination, MEL, and stakeholder engagement with experience in youth and workforce development. 

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide leadership and coordination for activities within a specific region or cluster.

  • Assist with the preparation of presentations and pitches for potential partners and clients.

  • Prepare/update project status reports, and maintain files for due diligence purposes.

  • Contributes to the maintenance and updating of internal process documentation. 

  • Responsible for early engagement of stakeholder mapping and managing the relationship with key stakeholders.

  • Facilitate coordination and collaboration among stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community organizations.

  • Assess risks, develop contingency plans, and implement risk mitigation strategies.

  • Monitor and track project’s progress at regional level and handle any issues that arise.

  • Lead data collection and cleaning at the field level, train enumerators to ensure data quality and accuracy.

  • Prepare timely and quality project progress and implementation reports for submission to MEL Officer (in accordance with reporting procedures).

  • Implement other project related activities as required.

Job Requirements

Academic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Project Management or related field

Experience

  • 3+ Years proven work experience which 2+ years in Project Coordinator or similar role preferably in a youth development context. 

  • Proven ability to design and implement effective training focused on skills/workforce development.

  • Prior experience coordinating and implementing multi-stakeholder trainings. Previous experience working with TVETs is a plus. 

  • Previous experience with field work as well as working with a distributed team preferred.

  • Strong English language skills , Amharic or Oromifa proficiency is required.
