The position holder is responsible to provide the required assistance on regulatory compliance, contract drafting and reviewing, legal services and other legal works with a view to ensure compliance and to enable the business achieve its business objectives.  In particular, he/she prepares manuals, working procedures and other legal documents when requested by the different departments of the company under the supervison of contracts and legal services manager and the Legal & regulatory affairs manager.   When necessary, he/she also liases with the different business units of the company and  with the different governmental institutions; a case in point in this regard are: the Document Authentication and Registration Office, the Ethiopian Intellectual Property Office, the Investment Commission, the Minsitry of Trade, the Ethiopian Income and Revenue Authority, etc upon the direction and supervision given by the corporate affairs manager.  

• Assist the department director and the legal and regulatory affairs manager in the conduct of legal risk assessment and the implementation of mitigation plan;

• Assist in the carrying out review of current policies, procedures and Manuals to ensure applicable regulatory laws are incorporated;

• Devise and organize a follow up mechanism for the renewal of all licenses, registrations, certifications, IPRs etc. and ensure that the company has all valid licenses to operate;

• Work with external counsel in the follow up of cases.

• Draft and/or review legal letters, contracts and agreements and monitor legal obligations under agreements to ensure compliance, as requested.

• Assist  manager in reviewing legal documents, preparation of procedures, manuals and codes of conduct

• Research and prepare legal opinions on various matters under the supervision of the legal and regulatory affairs manager.

• Advise on statutory compliances under the supervision of the legal and regulatory affairs manager

• Assist in the preparation of  training materials on different legal issues
