Strategic Designer 

About Our Client

Our client is a leading global strategic design consultancy, dedicated to working with leaders to create vibrant communities, strong economies, sustainable environments, and trusted institutions. With a dynamic and diverse team hailing from eight different countries and speaking over 15 languages, they leverage methodologies like human-centered design, behavioral insights, social psychology, linguistic anthropology, and ethnography to deeply understand human behavior. Currently, our client is embarking on a project in Ethiopia and requires mid-level Designers to support activities such as Human-centered Design (HCD) Capacity building and Behavioral research and design. They are actively seeking full-time Strategic Designer for their Ethiopia studio to meet this demand.

The Ideal Candidate

We are seeking professionals who are proficient in human-centered design and UX research and are confident in their abilities to manage clients and lead small teams. The ideal candidate:

– Can work directly with clients to define clear directions and address core problems in organizations and teams.

– Can design behavior change interventions based on an understanding of human motivation.

– Can undertake and lead fieldwork, including design research and prototyping.

– Can redesign business models and processes that create value for clients.

– Can coach and develop others in project management and foster a learning culture.

– Can monitor project performance, set deadlines, and evaluate success.

– Can contribute to the growth and excellence of the organization.

Responsibilities & Duties

For the project in Ethiopia, you will be responsible for:

– Preparing and planning for research and prototyping activities.

– Leading behavioral and user research initiatives.

– Analyzing and communicating research results to stakeholders.

– Preparing HCD training materials and delivering in-person training sessions.

– Documenting and preparing reports for key project activities.

– Participating in planning and reporting meetings.

– Coordinating the preparation of monthly reports.

Qualifications & Experience

Minimum Qualifications

– Degree in UX, human-centered design, HCI, sociology, psychology, or related field.

– At least 2 years of experience in UX research or design.

– Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

– Experience with design tools like Miro or Mural.

– Strong written & spoken English and local Ethiopian languages.

Preferred Qualifications

– Experience in behavioral research planning and design.

– Experience leading small design teams and managing projects.

– Experience running large-scale user experience research.

Other Details

This will be a full-time role based in Addis Abba, Ethiopia. The salary is negotiable, and the role is expected to begin no later than October 2023.
