Job Summary
Auto Mechanic Reporting to the Logistics Manager-Warehouse and Vehicle, is responsible for routine periodic services and repair and maintenances of company owned current and future delivery vehicles (Both Feed and DOC delivery).
Diagnose all incoming vehicle problems and perform maintenance and repairs.
Record all service notes and keep logs on work and issues.
Coordinate with the site fleet management officer to order repair parts.
Record all parts, fluids and time associated with each vehicle.
Working with assistant mechanics to diagnose and repair the engine, mechanical, and electrical components of delivery vehicles.
Performing test drives, inspections, and other diagnostic tests on vehicles to identify where problems exist and determine which parts need to be repaired or replaced.
Repair or replace broken or dysfunctional parts and fix issues (e.g. leaks)
Completing preventative maintenance on vehicles, such as performing oil changes, flushing, lubricating parts, and replacing fluids, and replacing brakes.
Ensuring all critical parts are checked and tested before delivery vehicles left the Hatchery compound.
Repairing damage to the body of the vehicle and washing and painting the vehicle’s exterior.
Generating timelines and estimates for repairs and discussing options with the fleet management officer. Also provide accurate estimates (cost, time, effort) for a repair or maintenance job
Inspecting internal systems and controls to ensure the vehicle is operating properly and in compliance with the company operation.
Maintaining accurate records relating to vehicles, parts, and service history.
Schedule future maintenance sessions and advise drivers on good vehicle use.
Using equipment as instructed, performing regular maintenance and repairs as needed.
Engaging in learning opportunities to update job knowledge and technical skills.
Perform other related duties as ordered by the Line supervisor.
Qualification
Diploma in Auto Mechanics
2–3 years direct experience
3rd level driving license (Dry-1)
Familiarity and experience with general shop and garage equipment (tire machine, lifts, wheel alignment machine etc.).
Good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to follow directions precisely.
