Job Description

Ensure that all the agriculture /agronomy and natural resource conservation components of the project in Lasta and surrounding communities implemented according to LWF policies and donor and government agreements.
Organize training in improved agricultural practices, post-harvest handling, soil fertility management, and forage development practices etc. in collaboration with woredas/zone offices.
Provide necessary orientation about land preparation and application of seeds and coaching, including practical demonstrations, on sustainable farming techniques such as proper spacing, intercropping, and crop rotation.
Promote agro-ecological practices (composting, inter-cropping, mixed cropping, crop rotation, proper land preparation, IPM, post-harvest management) on model farmers’ plots and identify dominant weeds, insect pest diseases and others and recommend mitigation measures.
He/she shall prepare and recommend improved farming practices, agricultural extension services and cropping systems in the project area following government agricultural policies.
Promote adaptable landrace and drought tolerant crop varieties among the farmers in the target kebeles.
Train farmers on watershed management and its link with climate change and climate risk crop micro-insurance. Disseminate information on Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) and National Adaptation Plan (NAP) to participants from woreda and kebele levels and NGOs working in climate related projects.
Develop materials for awareness rising and conduct training for the community on environmental matters.
Provide technical guidance in implementing the project interventions aim to rebuild the environment of the project and the surrounding areas/kebeles.
Control the nursery activities and raises seedlings and distribute to the beneficiaries as planned.
Facilitate effective implementation of the project as per the plan, set action plan (timetable and allocated budget and define roles and responsibilities of relevant actors).
Undertake community mobilization and regular monitoring and evaluation of the project and reporting to the project coordinator.
Maintain relevant networks with Clusters, government partners, other NGOs in respect to the project and attend meetings and represent the organization as required.
In compliance with Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) commitments, shall put in place feedback and complaint mechanisms, document and report to the Team Leader.
He/she shall perform any other duties as assigned to him by the Regional Project Coordinator and head office management.
He/she shall takes good care of materials and properties of LWF Ethiopia Program
He/she shall prepare weekly, monthly and biannual plans with other project staff
He/she shall prepare weekly, monthly and biannual progress reports
He/she shall follow procedures as outlined in LWF Ethiopia operation manuals.
Follow all procedures set out in the LWF-ET Staff Rules, Collective Agreement and other operational manuals.
Minimum of Bachelors’ or Master’s degree in rural development, agricultural engineering or natural resource management.
Required Experience:
Minimum of 3 years related work Experience for Bachelor Degree and 1 year for Master’s Degree
Key competencies:
Strong communication skill in English (written and oral)
Ability to interact with the target people
Team leadership skills
Previous related experience in NGO setup is an advantage
