Job Summary:

POSITION TITLE: Director, Trade and Investment Promotion Dept.
DEPARTMENT: Trade and Investment Promotion Dept.
REPORTS TO: Deputy Secretary General, Membership and Business Services

1. JOB SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the DSG of Membership and Business Services, the Director of Trade and Investment Promotion Department is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, controlling, and supervising the entire activities of the Department. He/she prepares plan and budget to launch trade fair programs and other business events; fulfills financial, human, and logistics resources; handles foreign and domestic correspondences to invite potential participants in trade fair programs and business events; and follows up the execution of same. He/she also arranges adequate and proper venues and spaces where the programs take place.

2. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Job Responsibility #1: Planning, Coordinating, Implementing and Monitoring

? Plans organizes, directs, coordinates, controls, and supervises trade fairs, events, and the accompanying bazaar programs in an integrated and efficient manner.
? Leads the preparation and launching of international trade fairs, events & bazaar programs;
? Involves in major correspondences to approach government officials, international Chambers, etc. for the international trade fair programs;
? Arrange and organize schedules, conferences, symposiums, forums, Business Luncheon and Chamber Forum programs, Business to Business meetings, and staff days in consultation with concerned bodies and comply with activity reports accordingly;
? Prepares work plans, budget, and program schedules detailing the time frame, resource requirement, number of potential domestic and local participants, as well as the venue;
? Upon approval of the plans & budget, mobilize adequate financial, human & physical resources to run the programs economically & successfully.
? Ensures optimal utilization of allotted resources with due emphasis to cash-out lays;
? Devises promotion and advertising programs to maximize the number of participants;
? Handles correspondences whereby to invite and approach domestic and foreign participants;
? Forecasts financial returns from the trade fair and event programs;
? Devises contemporary marketing strategies to enhance trade fair and event programs maintaining international standards;
? Monitors cash outlays to finance expenses of different kinds for the trade fair and event program;
? Follows up cash inflows to be collected from trade fair participants, visitors, and shoppers;
? Initiates and follows up the design and printing of invitation cards, template Brochures, and special bulletins/magazines ahead of time;
? Ascertains how fair and reasonable the space leasing tariff, entrance fee, and rates of other facilities including takeaways & canopies;
? Evaluates the challenges, weaknesses and strengths of the trade fair during the process and after the completion of trade fair programs;
? Facilitates and follows up entrance permits for foreign participants;
? Arranges special programs and per-requisites whereby foreign business companies would enter into business agreements with domestic business organizations and associations;
? Ascertains that proper accounting recordings are maintained for expenses and revenues;
? Follows up the timely transfer of accounting records to the Finance Department for further accounting treatment and subsequent auditing.

Job Responsibility #2: Staff Management

? Directs, leads, guides, supports, and controls staff responsible to him/her to ensure that they are appropriately motivated and trained to meet all targets of his/her Department and that they carry out their responsibilities to the required standards;
? Orients, mentors, and assigns responsibilities to staff under his/her supervision;
? Initiates and supports implementing staff training in order to increase their efficiency and effectiveness;
? Evaluate the performances of staff under his/her supervision based on the HR policy of the Chamber;
? Conducts regular meetings with staff under his/her supervision to discuss ways and means of improving work systems.

Job Responsibility #3: Reporting and Others

? Prepares periodical reports on the performance of trade fair and event programs and submits them to the DSG of Membership and Trade Services;
? Performs other duties as assigned by the DSG of Membership and Business Services.

3. MINIMUM QUALIFICATION

A) EDUCATION/TRAINING
? MA/BA in Management, Economics, or a related field

B) WORK EXPERIENCE
? 9/11 years of relevant experience of which 4 years in a supervisory Position.

C) TECHNICAL AND OTHER SKILLS
? Ability to provide leadership, communicate effectively, and promote team approach;
? Demonstrated technical and managerial ability, sound judgment, ability to interact and work effectively with others at all levels;
? Good conceptual understanding of trade fair and event management;
? Firm belief in teamwork and gender equality;
? Basic computer skills;
? Excellent written and oral communication skills
