Know our team

 Nutrition International implements high-impact and low-cost nutrition interventions in Ethiopia. NI’s program focus on the life cycle approach to improve the nutrition status of adolescents, mothers and children. Quality of care and nutrition information are the core aspects of NI’s program in Ethiopia. The MEAL team provides technical oversight and support to the country team in the development and implementation of Monitoring and Evaluation frameworks. Currently, Nutrition International is seeking applications for a Senior Monitoring and Evaluation Officer to be based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

About the role

The Senior Monitoring and Evaluation Officer will provide technical oversight and support to counties in the development and implementation of Monitoring and Evaluation frameworks. The officer will ensure effective monitoring and evaluation concepts and tools are included in program design and plans for regions, provide technical support to implementation of quality data management systems, routine monitoring of program outputs, and reporting of NI’s program in all regions.

Key responsibilities;

  • With support from the Regional Monitoring and reporting team, lead the development and implementation M&E framework/system for the Ethiopia Program, ensuring all the programs have detailed monitoring plans, tools for data aggregation and analysis, quality data is generated and reported in a timely manner.

  • Provide technical support to program staff, and County officials in implementing the program M&E framework, as well as utilization of data for program improvement.

  • Track Program output and outcome level results on a regular basis in close coordination with FMOH, RHBs and Woreda offices using DHIS2.

  • In liaison with the Ministry of Health, follow up to ensure constant availability of approved standardized tools by health facilities in accordance with Ministry of Health guidelines.

  • Strengthen the Capacity of Zonal and Woreda coordinators in ensuring the generation of quality data through DHIS and other supplementary data generation systems as stipulated in the monitoring plan and facilitate utilization of the data for decision making.

  • Ensure regional reports are complete and meet NI quality requirements.

  • Assist program team in preparing donor reports by providing M&E-related information.

  • Work closely with the program team to ensure that lessons learned from program evaluations and assessments are documented properly.

  • Represent NI in relevant internal and external forums including M&E Technical Working Groups and other stakeholder forums at national and county levels.

  • Foster partnerships with other stakeholders at county and national levels.

Job requirements

  • MS/MA/MPH in relevant field with more than 3 years’ experience in monitoring and evaluation within health and development projects, preferably RMNCH.

  • Excellent computing skills including Microsoft Office Suite. Specifically proficiency in excel and access

  • Knowledge of common statistical software packages, health information technologies, software applications, as well as web technologies including DHIS 2.

  • Experience in quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills, teamwork, report writing and project management skills.

  • Proficiency in English & Amharic.
