Job Description

The counselor is responsible for: undertake case management, undertake individual case assessments and prepare intervention plans, provision of counseling, therapy, and/or psychotherapy services for vulnerable children and their families as appropriate to the position; prepares treatment and discharging plans, and follow-up progress of change, provides therapeutic crisis intervention and emergency services as required. Then from services provided and positive changes harvested, develop best case stories following organizational procedures in securing informed consent of the project target and with outmost capability of ensuring their safety. She/he is also responsible for the efficient and effective child related development interventions in the Area Program Office

Job Requirement

  • Education: BA in psychology, Social work, or Sociology.

  • Experience: 2 or more years of relevant work experience preferable in an NGO environment working with and providing counseling service for vulnerable children especially children in street situation, children on the move, survivors of labor and sexual abuse and exploitation etc

Competency Requirements

  • Well organized and ability to act in a professional and ethical manner;

  • Ability to communicate effectively with children, families and promote a team work approach to successfully implement project and the organization’s mission;

  • Good conceptual understanding of result based program management approach.

  • Able to operate basic computer skills, report writing skills; excellent written and oral communication skills;

  • Sensitive and tolerant to sociocultural diversity and maintain client details confidential

  • Firm in gender equality, sensitivity to HIV/AIDS, transparent and participatory

  • Language skills: Amharic. Oromifa and English
